Vehicle Detail

1976 Honda CB-550K/550 Four. 14,917 miles. As you can see, it does not have the '76 Brown tank and side covers. They were used on another project, so I put these '75 "Boss Maroon Metallic" pieces on, as I planned on having them repainted. The plans were to have the bike done to resemble an early CB-500 Four. I put on the small turn signals and had planned to get it painted Candy Gold. The signals were as far as I got and sadly the bike sat in the garage for the next four years. The bike ran rough and needed the carbs cleaned when I purchased it, but the clutch worked fine and it shifted through all the gears with no issues. The person I purchased it from said he had his local Honda dealer replace the long "O" ring on the large valve cover before he parked it for the last time. The bike will start, but runs rough, won't idle and definatley still needs the carbs cleaned. The fuel tank has some smaller rust spots inside and should be cleaned. The tank has a small dent at the very front left side way up against the chrome trim in the middle. It is not made from contact of the upper triple clamp, so kinda weird how it could have been made (not that noticeable). The rims and spokes have rust and you can find small rust specks here and there on other parts. Some are very mild and will buff out, while others are too bad to fix (unless re-chrome or plate) like the rims and spokes and some places on the muffler. I'ver seen a lot worse, but disclosing that is has these condition/cosmetic issues so the winning bidder will be informed. The tires show checking/cracks and should be replaced. The headlight does not work, nor does the electric start button. The starter turns over fine touching both solenoid posts with a screwdriver (the switch has had the button rigged-most likely the issue). The front brake needs cleaned &/or re-built, as the piston sticks (very common on these old Hondas). The air box is missing, but it does have the stock rubber boots on the back of them. I had purchased a NOS/New Old Stock Honda air box w/boots that I am selling in another auction along with the air filter box. They cost me too much to throw in on this bike sale and I'm guessing the buyer of this will make a Cafe style bike out of it anyway and use the individual pod type filters (not needing the air box). Clear title included. Lack of interest and need for funds forces this sale. "As-is" at NO RESERVE!
