2006 VW Jetta TDI This auction is for a 2006 VW Jetta TDI. I bought the car new in 2007 from a VW dealership near Philadelphia (Colonial VW in Feasterville, PA), it was a 2006 leftover. I was the first and only owner. I originally bought the car, as my work vehicle, for its excellent fuel economy. Because of the diesel engine, the TDI's get much better fuel mileage than the gas engine Jetta's. If you have never had a TDI, I can assure you that what you hear about the many miles per gallon is true. This car gets 52 miles per gallon during normal highway driving, that means 70 or 75 miles per hour for me. You would probably get even more if you kept it around 60 or 65 mph though. And, I would say I get about 43-45 mpg when I drive around town. It currently has just over 184,000 miles. As an outside sales rep, I drive a lot. But, another great thing about a diesel engine is that you can get a lot more miles out of them than a gas engine car. With good maintence, I know of people who are up over 400,000 and still going strong. And, this car was always serviced by VW, for everything. It has had all regular maintenance performed by the dealership; from the minor things like oil changes, to the more expensive suggested maintenance items like the timing belt that was done around 115,000. The reason I am selling it is simply because I changed jobs. The company I now work for provides their reps with company vehicles. I considered keeping the Jetta around as a personal vehicle, but really have no need for it. I am permitted to drive the company car for my personal use as well. This Jetta has LOTS of options. It has leather heated seats, a power moonroof, 6 disc cd player with mp3 capailities, satellite radio, steering wheel controls for your blue tooth and radio, one-touch windows all around (the back and passenger window will go up or down with one click like only the driver window does in most cars), an air-conditioned glove box (not sure why), and one-tap turn signals (when you tap the turn signal lever, it flashes the signal 3 times and then stops. You can still press the lever all the way down or up when you're waiting in a turning lane, it goes off when you turn like in normal cars. But, the one-tap feature is great for changing lanes. You don't have to turn it off, or remember to. Surprisingly convenient!). The car is very clean. I would call it excellent condition for its year. There is nothing major wrong with the exterior anywhere. It has little marks on the hood from stones (or maybe salt in the winter) being kicked up from the road. But, I consider that normal wear for a car that is 5 years old. The interior is also really nice. There are some scrathes on the dash in front of the passenger seat, from sitting boxes and things in the front seat. I guess I should have been more careful getting them in and out, but I don't think they would really bother anyone either. The only thing I would probably want to fix, if I were keeping it, would be the speaker on the back right passenger door. It got pushed in when I overpacked my backseat once and forced the door closed. I've included a picture. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me.
