Vehicle Detail

For sale by owner: 1991 Ford, E-150, Econoline (1/2 TON). 5.0 Liter, 302, Fuel Injected V-8 with 3-speed with Overdrive automatic transmission. Options/Standard Features:Power WindowsPower LocksPower SteeringPower Brakes (Rear Antilock Drum Brakes, Front Disc Brakes)Tilt Steering Wheel with Cruise ControlBright Light Dimmer Switch on Floor (Standard Ford item)Sliding door on passenger sideDual Air Conditioning, front heat only (Back Air was installed as a aftermarket option by dealershipSeats 5-Adults (5-Seat Belts), Captain chairs up front which slide forwards and backwards and recline, the front passenger seat swivels 360-degrees so you can face the back if you want to (Seats-2) Bench in back (Seats-3). Back bench lays flat and turns into small bed (nice on long trips/camping).AM/FM Stereo with cassette tape works good, has the factory speakers (4-speakers total, one in each front door and two in the back).Front and back interior dome lights.Comes with 2-bottle neck type jacks (factory king).Comes with newer (About 6,000 miles on them) Goodyear Wrangler 15-inch tires purchased from Wal-Mart in 2009 (Has lifetime free tire rotation/balancing and road hazard warranty from Wal-Mart).Has factory dual gas tanks ( I always forget, I think the front one holds 21-gallons and the back tank holds 15-gallons, all I know for for sure is it hold about 34-36 gallons of gas)Manually adjustable side view mirrors (they are old and worn out, so that don't stay where you want them too well).Fully carpeted interior front to back, even the walls, ceiling and all doors. Two factory style coat hangers in back for hanging your jacket/clothesFull-size spare tire mounted in factory location on rear passenger side wall (No crawling under the back of the van to get the spare tire out, much safer when you break down on the side of the road). What I know about the Van: My Dad bought this van sometime around 2001 (I think) from a Music Teacher at the University of Southern Mississippi. She had bought used and had the interior fully carpeted to protect her musical instruments when she was hauling them, so most of it's life was spent in Hattiesburg, MS until my Dad bought it. My Dad lived just south of Hattiesburg in Purvis, MS so that is where it spent it's time from 2001 when he bought it until he passed away in October 2008. After he passed away I drove it to Hattiesburg to Midas on Broadway and had a complete brake job done with all new pads and new front rotors, everything lubed, spent over $350.00 as Dad had bought a new Crown Vic in 2007 and let the Van sit up and all the brakes froze/locked up. After that I drove it to my house in Booneville, MS and drove it about once a week just to keep in running good. Later, say about May 2009, I took it to my regular mechanic in Booneville and had both front and rear air fixed, a newer started motor, a newer altenator, a newer battery, all new belts, new plugs/wires, tune-up, fuel injection cleaning (replaced one leaky injector), completely rebuilt the transmission, new water pump, lubed everything, checked/inspected everything. My mechanic in Booneville, MS used to work at a Ford Dealership, so he made the thing run just like new, the best it had ever run before. Now the bad: When my Booneville, MS mechanic was doing all the work he found that the intake manifold was warped from age/use and improperly tightened bolts. He put on a new gasket and something like JB/Weld and told me not to overfill the radiator more than half way, he also found that my dad had the transmission kick down lever taken off that works in conjunction with the cruise control, so when you are driving the transmission doesn't kick down when you start going up a hill, so the cruise control just disengages and you have to use your foot, when you push down on the gas pedal the tranmission will kick down perfecly fine, but back near when my Dad stopped driving it he just drove it around in Drive instead of Overdrive as the tranmission was starting to go bad (that's why I had it rebuilt after Dad passed away0. Well in March 2009 I moved to Knoxville, TN. My wife and I made at least 12-trips from our house in Booneville, MS to Knoxville, TN (6-hour drive) in the van moving all of our stuff that we couldn't fit in the U-haul and going back to check on our house, to mow the yard, etc. The van never gave us any problems, cold air, smooth ride, never heistated, always starts up on first try, 18-MPG at 75-MPH on the highway. This is why I had everything done directly before the move knowing we would be using the van alot to move and I didn't want it to break down on us. So life was good and after we finally got everything moved to TN I decided it was way...past time to replace the dry rotted tires that Dad had on the van from it sitting up at his house from 2001-2007, so I went to the Wal-Mart near our new house in Knoxville and bought the new Goodyear Wranglers for it, since then I may have about 6,000 miles on the van. Okay, so where are we now? Oh, I remember, the van is in the best shape of it's life, running great, new tires, good brakes, everything working the way it should except for the LCD on the radio is burnt out so you can't see what time it is or what radio station you are on, but otherwise everything works, but it does need 4-new shocks (Haven't had the money, put if you do it yourself Autozone sells them for $25-$35 each, depending on the Brandy you buy). Okay so fast forward to 2011, my daily driver (1999 Honda Accord) is in the shop and I had to start driving the van back and forth to work, it did great for several weeks of this driving it 7-days a week, no problems, but then one weekend my wife and I decided to drive it to Chattanooga to go shopping and on the way there the seal broke on the intake and it started getting water mixed in with oil. I knew it instanly when it happend and we turned back around and went straight home. So, now instead of trying to fix it I am just selling it. I'm hoping to get $800, otherwise I am going to drive it to the U-Pick It autoparts here in Knoxville and sell it to them. My wife and I are moving this weekend to Chapel Hill, NC so I need to sell it in the next 2-4 weeks as our lease here in Knoxville will be up at the end of Sept. Quick Rundown of the bad: 17 MPG 1991 Rust/flaking paint around drip rail on ruff intake mainfold warped/cracked who knows? Water/coolant mixing with Oil, check the dip stick and it is white (classic sign of water mixing with oil) Needs 4-new shocks ASAP! Quick Rundown of the good: 1991 Dual Air/works good Horn works Always starts on the first try Runs/idles decently, smokes a little when you first start it Doesn't overheat, still drives. Heat works good Cruise control works good Brakes work great Power Steering works great All lights, power windows, power locks, brake lights, headlights, blinkers, hazard lights, interior lights, running lights, etc all work and work well Inside/Interior in great shape, remarkably clean, no cracks in the dash, all the glass is good, no rock pecks are runs, etc. I have all receipts from what I have done, what my Dad did and what the music proffessor did. Outside is in good condition except for a few minor dings/dents and scratches, it is a 1991. 1991 was the last of this body style (collectible?). In 1992 Ford completely redesigned the fullsize vans so they look compeletly different inside and out, but Ford made the same bodystle from the late 60's to 1991 so there are plenty of spare exterior body parts for this 1991 van. Newer tires with about 6,000 miles on them. Summary, put a new/used/rebuilt engine in and 4-new shocks, repalce the 2-front captain chairs with so more comfortable seats and you have a good van that will go another 100,000 miles easily depending on the engine you put in it. I will drive it to you anywhere in Knoxville as long as it is not more than 30-miles from my place, I think anything over 30-miles would probably kill the engine or at least cause it to loose lots of power/life. Clear Mississippi Title (3rd owner from what I can tell, orginial owner, music professor and then my Day) Buy it quick before I change my mind and spend $1,800 and have a good used engine put in it so I can keep it.
