Vehicle Detail

The car offered here is one of 1643 manufactured during the worst year of the Great Depression. Buick had its worst year ever in 1933, manufacturing only 40,620 cars. Few of these coupes have survived in their original form, because most were hot-rodded. This car was repainted and reupholstered some 20 years ago, but the color and upholstery were accurately copied. The car is very original, and while it has age problems with the paint and upholstery, it still looks pretty good. Look and the pictures and judge for yourself. This car has its original 8 cylinder engine and transmission, which work well, does not smoke and runs cool even in this 107 degree temperature! The original 4.7 ratio rear end has been upgraded with a specially tooled 3.57 ratio ring and pinion, which makes driving much better in modern traffic. This makes the speedometer register about 8-10 miles slow. The tires are new Firestone, with new tubes and flaps. The fuel pump and carburetor have been rebuilt, and the shackle bushing on the springs have been replaced, and the king pins have been replaced recently. The gas tank has been cleaned and coated. Car drives out good. The chrome is not perfect, but very good, and the car comes with two radiator caps, being the “8” type, and the flying lady type(see Pictures). The windshield has been replaced recently, and all the glass is good. The rear window rolls down so you can speak with the passengers in the rumble seat. The rumble seat handle on the car is not correct, but I have the original and the lock that goes with the car. The horns look good, but are not wired and I don’t know if they work; also, the fog lights work, but are not wired. The windshield wipers are not on the car, but go with the car(everything is there). This car originally had a vacuum clutch that allowed the driver to shift without using the clutch. I have the parts, but they are not on the car, and you probably would not put them on if you bought the car.. Buick used this only in 1933 because it caused troubles. I have restored the trunk rack, and it has all the trim. An original clock comes with the car, although it is not in the car dash. This is a rare car, and I part with it only because I have too many cars to care for at my advanced age. Email your questions. I will sell internationally, but contact me about payment and shipping. A $2,000.00 deposit must be made by the winning bidder within 24 hours. On Sep-06-11 at 14:19:16 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer some questions: First, this is not a show car; an old restoration was done, but now there are chips and faded places in the paint; great 20 footer. The chrome is good, but the front bumper needs plating. The upholstery is worn with some tears(see pictures), but very usable as is. The top material and weather strip on top are worn(not leaking), and I intended to replace the top; a new Hampton top kit goes with the car. There is no significant rust on this car, and it is all straight metal; I don't know if there is bondo. The paint and upholstery are exact copies of the original, and overall, this car looks pretty good. It is all original except for the ring and pinion change(from a ratio of 4.7 to 3.57). The motor, transmission, rear end all work well, and the car is fun to drive. The instruments and lights work. It has mechanical brakes that work well, but like when they were new, it takes more pressure to stop. The car has a good Texas title, is licensed to run. Parts that go with the car(other than those already listed): an engine block with parts; a good transmission; 2 beauty rings for the side mounts; a new pair of running board moldings covers, although the ones on the car are pretty good. The metal strips at the ends of the running boards are poor. Also, a 4.7 ratio rear end(original). I have an owners manual and service manual and some other data to go with this car, including a 12 X8 color add. This is what I believe is a No. 3 car, but easy and not expensive to upgrade. I believe this car in No 1 condition would command a price of $75,000 to 85,000, maybe more.
