1964 chevelle malibu ss -true Super Sport car Up for auction is a vintage / nostalgia drag car that was built in the late 60s early 70s car was built "gasser style" as the engine was set back for weight transfer,firewall notched accordingly about 10% as was the norm the engine now is sittlng back in its normal location. The details are as follows... Engine: 383 stroker 4 bolt main block,steel crank turned 10/10,clevite bearings, HD GM racing rods . wiesco forged racing11.5-1 compression pistons, speed -pro rings, floating pins,melnings high pressure /hi vol nascar series oil pump/pickup syst 525 lift 320 duration 106 lobe sep crane cam (very radical idle) has pete jackson gear drive. block is a early high nickel casting was then bored 60 over and walls were checked before and after and found to be very solid . The entire assembly was machined /completely assembled & ballanced by Straight Line Racing in Ontario. The engine revs up super quick and smooth makes lots of power....approx 425 horsepwr Heads are orig gm 64 cc vette fuelie heads which have a 3 angle valve job ,ported & polished -lots of head work was performed . 202/160 stainless manley valves .crane hd triple 550 lift springs,retainers,studs,poly locks ,etc and has crane roller rockers 1.5s ratio .The intake is a early holley strip dominator ,Carb is a edelbrock 750 and ignition is A heavy duty GM high - perf HEI system w/race coil&spring kit . new race taylor wires & early Mickey Thompson valve covers The engine it was built for go, not for show .It isnt flashy and all chromed its just painted and detailed very nice ...but when this thing fires to life you definatly know it means business!! It will rev to 8000 RPM .The compression crackle, cam thump and gear drive noise is like music..unmistakeable music with open headers . The car was originally a 4 SPD car ....It now has automatic in place to move around -that was a rebuild a couple years ago came out of a z-28 and shifter was installed at the time (was'nt sure if I was going 4spd or not then).... Car is equipped with the orig 12 bolt posi rear end has Heavy -duty axles and 5:13 gears from its racing days has the old school poly-air lift bags in the springs to pre load them,coil over shocks & vintage lakewood ladder bars. Frame is excellent has additional cross brace /ladder bar mounts,drive shaft loops from its race days, floors are solid (have been replaced long ago) And have been treated with a spray on ''lizzard skin'' which is extremely tough rust proof coating {similar to a truck line -x bed-liner coating}. The car is not tubbed which is nice and has a beautiful roll cage set up welded at 8 points to the frame which was done extremely well The inner/outer rockers are original , and in great shape. The body is smooth, & solid with no rust issues. Rear wheel lips were modified to enable slicks to fit (old school way) trunk lid is steel ..but is a lift off deal and has been lightened it by taking out some of the inner bracing. The paint is base coat/clear coat imron 9000 silver metalic with a lot of heavy metalic flake it sparkles great in the sun & its nice driver quality and a couple years old . Car has 12 gal harwood fuel cell and holley electric race fuel pump. also has a HD battery located in trunk. The trunk floor pan solid & it's carpeted in black as well . The interior has low back bucket seats recovered in black cloth /leather combo, new black carpeting throughout including up into the rear seat area and pkg shelf (car has no back seat due to roll bar) doors have the covering from the seventies(red velour) were in car when I got it . Early autometer gauges mounted nicely in dash and early chrome tach as well . Dash is original & all steel -complete with all switches and factory gauges & original "ss "glove box trim & small grant 3 spoke wheel . The interior is very clean and presentable. Car has the orig vintage 15/3 front cragars in good condition for their age with old moroso drag specials(tires are cracked bad) rears cragars are 15/10 (showing there age)with n50 trac action tires from the 70s with lots of tread The car was again built as a gasser type car was raced through the 60s-70s with a 427 and tunnel ram,4 spd engine was set back in frame in its day and rumored to be a wicked piece was run in the west end of Toronto and raced on local tracks in the surrounding areas back then... that was what I was told by the owner,and friends of the owner as well. I have had the car for about 12 years I have the old slicks that came with the car ,they will go with it if wanted ...I got the car without the eng/trans and have slowly been putting it together . The car comes with xtra pieces in boxes such as : wiper motor ,extra cowl panel , lots of chrome trim,headlight bezels,complete heater box& heater core w controls, tail light housings/lenses 4spd linkages,cross shafts, etc and old wiring harness to use as template . the car is wired to run but that is all so far ...was going to do a painless type wiring kit but that will be up to next owner to do. The car is awesome, very well built, clean and requires little work to be terrorizing the streets & drag strip once again Remember the car is an old race car that is in great shape for its age considering its an east coast car ..it is not perfect,...nor is it a show car ...,it wasnt intended to be. Its just a bad ass old strip racer from way back That anyone would be proud of at a cruise / show ...or at the drags. The car was built well from its racing days and the engine is built properly by Straight Line Racing . The reserve is set fairly low and car is valued reasonably & accordingly I have approx $15,000 into the car into the build of the car /engine /body /etc i can store the car for a bit while the new owner makes arangements for shipping : no pressure once its paid for so dont worry about that, Im easy to work with, just let me know what you need As always shipping will be the sole responsibility /and cost to the new owner I do have some excellent contacts for shipping if required they are professional,insured, etc.....I can assist in loading if needed Trades possible + cash Some I would consider : 55-66 gm/chevy pick ups, Hot Rods ,Rat rods etc ..NO late models or imports thank you .
