Vehicle Detail
1960 Sunbeam Alpine- Series 1 I’m selling my Series 1 Alpine. This is a great driver and gets quite a bit of attention among British car loyalists and gawkers alike, but tuition is due so it has to go. The plan was to restore it to be a 98 pointer but … Mechanically, this car works very well. The engine (1494cc) was re-built less than 100 miles ago with a new pistons, rings, rod and main bearings. The starter was re-built as was the fuel pump. It also has a new coil, plugs, plug wires and cap. Clutch and 4-speed transmission work great- shifts smoothly. Brakes and emergency brakes also work well. The carburetors are the original twin Zeniths with air cleaners The interior is in very good shape too. I just had the seats and center council re-upholstered, and I bought extra material for the door panels and panels behind the seats. I decided to buy high end vinyl with a slight grained pattern because it has a great feel to it (I did not like the hard “Original” vinyl and vinyl replacements). The factory “stitch” pattern was followed. The exterior needs TLC to finish this car. It was originally a white car but was re-painted blue by the previous owner. Paint quality if fair. There are no rust holes but there appears to be bondo in some of the panels. My plan was to re-skin the doors, take the panels down to the metal and refinish with a proper prime and red paint. I have a new soft top ready to be installed on the existing framing plus a hard top with rear window manufactured by Parrish. On Tuesday August 30 I added additional photos of the undercarriage. The bones of the car are good but there have been repairs to the rockers and panels. Looks like the remaining imperfections would be fairly simple to fix. The car is being sold with an assortment of miscellaneous parts including trunk weather stripping, front window rubber, an extra starter, an extra intake manifold (not pictured), coil, cap, wires, etc. It has a clear title, signed and ready to transfer to new owner. The car is not tagged. The winning bidder is responsible for shipping. I can assist within reason. Please do not bid on this car if you cannot pay for it or don't intend to buy it. If you have questions, either ask them via the sale page or call me at 734-536-1773. Also feel free to come see the car. An appointment is needed. If the reserve is not met a second chance offer may be made depending on the highest bid amount. I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime for local sale. If you have an offer in mind, please do not wait to present it. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of purchase. The balance is due within 7 days. This Sunbeam is being sold as is with no warranty. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
