I live in Wilmington, De and the car is located in Martinsville, Va. 1970 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible, Type 34, new paint original amber color, new black canvas top, black interior, 60 HP engine, odometer 93980 miles, excellent condition. I'm listing it for a friend of my family. It has been owned for the last 15 years by an elderly couple. Husband just passed away. Car has been stored in a heated garage and has been meticulously maintained with no expense spared. This car is immaculate and runs awesome, all original except for the upgraded wheels (mini lites) and new paint... Deposit of US $500.00 within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment required within 7 days of auction close. Brief history of the Karmann Ghia: In 1950, Karmann approached Volkswagen with a design for a new vehicle. Karmann had a working relationship with Volkswagen that went prior to this project that included the Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet. The idea was initially rejected by Volkswagen so Karmann approached the coachbuilding company Carrozzeria Ghia of Turin who built the first prototype of the vehicle, completing in 1953. In November of 1953, Nordhoff, the head of Volkswagen at the time, gave approval for the vehicle to be built by his company.
