Vehicle Detail
1959 FORD FAIRLANE 500 GALAXIE 2 DOOR HARDTOP LOW RESERVE – PRICED TO SELL WHAT YOU ARE BIDDING ON IS AN ORIGINAL, NUMBERS MATCHING BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC. YES, THAT’S RIGHT. I MEAN ORIGINAL PAINT AND ORIGINAL INTERIOR FROM THE HEADLINER TO THE CARPET AS VERIFIED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNERS GRAND DAUGHTER WHO INHERITED THIS BEAUTY. AND IT IS EXCEPTIONAL! ONLY 50,000 DOCUMETED ORIGINAL MILES This car appears to be all metal with no bondo. The entire body was checked with a magnet. All glass is perfect. The windows roll and down smoothly and create a tight seal. All door and window felt and rubber seals are excellent and water tight. All handles, cranks and knobs are original and in perfect condition. The doors open and close effortlessly like a new car, as does the rear deck lid and the hood. The interior is gorgeous! Floor pans and trunk pan are solid. The trunk pictures represent the trunk as found when the original cloth trunk mat was removed. Note the primer, the paint, the glue and a little dirt. Even the cardboard wheel drop covers are solid and intact. The wheel drops are solid, dry and damage free. This car has a matching spare tire and jack. All of the original undercoating is thick, completely intact and in extraordinary condition. The under carriage has not been detailed. The frame is solid, damage and rust free. The paint still has a spectacular mirror finish and could easily be rated a solid 8.0 out of 10, but is not perfect. There are factory paint code stamps still visible on the firewall, the inside of the hood and the inside of both fenders. The build sheet is most likely still in its original hiding place waiting to be discovered. The panel fit, seams and body lines are extraordinary. All stainless and chrome is in great condition but is not perfect. There is no visible rust. The car presents very well. The radiator is brand new. There has been a new ignition switch installed since I’ve had the car but I also have records of maintenance done over the years which clearly verifies the low mileage. I have the original keys and the factory key tag for additional keys. It has an Old School air horn that plays a tune and can be / was used in parades. Of course the factory dual horn is intact and works. The engine compartment has been detailed and the rest of the car has just been cleaned. What you see is basically the way the car was handed down by the original owner. Unbelievably nice!! What makes a CLASSIC a COLLECTIBLE among collectors? Simply put, if the car is a “first of” it’s a must have. WELL THIS IS IT; A “FIRST” OF 1959 WAS THE FIRST YEAR OF THE GALAXIE SHOW IT OR DRIVE IT THIS CLASSIC CAR IS MECHANICALLY SOUND, TROUBLE FREE AND RUNS AND DRIVES AS IT SHOULD. IT IS POWERED BY THE INDESTRUCTABLE “MILEAGE MAKER SIX” 223 CI OHV 1-V CREATING 145 HP COUPLED WITH THE FORDOMATIC 2 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THIS CAR HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH POWER BUT STILL YEILDS EXCELLENT GAS MILEAGE. THIS CLASSIC EASILY CRUISES AT 80 MPH PLUS WITH EASE. I DROVE THE CAR 50 PLUS MILES RECENTLY IN OVER 90 DEGREES FARENHEIT AND IT RAN COOL AND TROULBE FREE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT WHEN THE ORIGINAL OWNERS GRAND DAUGHTER INHERITED THE CAR IN 2007, SHE AND HER HUSBAND DROVE IT FROM INDIANA TO COLORADO WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE STEERING WHEEL HOLDS STRAIGHT, SOLID AND HAS ABSOLUTELY NO VIBRATIONS OR PLAY. THE BRAKES ARE SOLID AND FIRM WITH NO PULLS WHEN APPLIED. THERE IS NO SMOKE, AND NOT ONE LEAK ANYWHERE. ALL LIGTHS AND GAUGES WORKS AS THEY SHOULD. It is all there and only needs a heater core I’m told, door jamb dome light buttons, the drivers’ side sun visor is starting to wear out but stays in place, there is a small patch carpet on the drivers’ side floor where the carpet has worn but it blends very well. The clock still works occasionally. Once in a while you have to wiggle the gearshift handle when starting the car. I believe the neutral safety switch is starting to wear. This is only a very minor issue and I should have it fixed before the new owner takes delivery. DON’T MISS THIS CHANCE TO OWN A GREAT, FIRST GENERATION, MID-YEAR PRODUCTION MODEL OF THIS HIGHLY DESIRABLE AND DEFINTELY HARD-TO-FIND EXAMPLE OF… AWARD WINNING AMERICAN STYLE AND BEAUTY THERE IS NO REASON WHY YOU COULDN’T TAKE THIS EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF AN ORIGINAL CLASSIC TO ANY LOCAL OR REGIONAL CAR SHOW AND SHOW IT WITH PRIDE, NOT TO MENTION THAT YOU WOULD MOST LIKELY BE THE ONLY ONE THERE WITH A MID-YEAR 1959 FORD FAIRLANE 500 GALAXIE AS ORIGINAL AND AS NICE AS THIS ONE. THIS CLASSIC ISN’T A TRAILER QUEEN, NOR IS IT PERFECT. REMEMBER THIS IS A 52 YEAR OLD CAR, BUT YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW BY LOOKING AT IT. YOU CAN TINKER WITH IT AND MAKE IT AS CLOSE TO PERFECT AS YOU CARE TO, BUT IT IS ALMOST THERE. ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION SHOWS THAT IT WAS WELL CARED FOR BUT IT WAS ALSO DRIVEN AND ENJOYED. Some History The late 1950s saw intense competition for sales among the “Big Three” of Detroit. Cars had gotten longer, laden with chrome, and more extreme in design. 1959 was the first year of the new Galaxie model which now replaced the Fairlane as the top-of-the-line Ford passenger car. The 1959 Ford featured modest fins, hooded quad headlamps, and a full-width grille featuring four rows of floating “stars”. The 1959 Ford was billed as “the world’s most beautifully proportioned car” and did receive a Gold Medal for exceptional styling at the Brussels World’s Fair. The 1957 and 1958 Fairlane and Fairlane 500 as was the 1960 and 1962 models were also gorgeous cars, but there is nothing like the award winning stylistic grace and beauty of the 1959 Fairlane 500 Galaxie. Don’t miss out on this chance to own this one. Bid what you can afford and bid to win . . . .
