Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on one 1974 Honda CL200 scrambler in excellent original condition. This bike was made for one year only, and has 4996 original miles. This is a one owner bike that I found to restore. The tank has been properly cleaned and sealed with POR15 tank sealant, new gaskets to the fuel petcock, and all new fuel lines. The carburetors were clean as a whistle, and were re-installed with new insulator o-rings. The engine was oiled up real well before attempting to start the bike; of course changing the oil itself. The bike then had a thorough cleaning; pressure washing the fins to clean them before starting the engine. I installed a brand new Yuasa battery. Everything else is stock the way I found it. I added fresh fuel, and it started right up; even with the old spark plugs that were in it. The engine runs smoothly, and pulls well right up to the 9500 RPM redline. The transmission shifts smoothly and positively. Everything on this bike works with the exception of the low beam on the headlight, where the filament has burned out. Also, the headlight stanchions have dropped due to the drying of the inside rubber bushings that keep them up (please check the pictures for the area where I'm pointing at the upper fork tube). The rubber bushings to fix it are still available, and the job can be performed in a few hours. The front forks were bled, and work fine. Everything on this bike is stock, right down to the original Honda mirrors, which are stamped with an HM inside an oval ring on the chrome side of the mirrors. The seat is perfect with no rust at all, and the chrome overall is still pretty nice, even though there is pitting on the surface. The tank is in great shape with no dings, but does have a number of small chips in the paint. I've ridden the bike for a total of about 20 miles while tuning it up; I changed the oil again after about 20 minutes of running, using a top grade motorcycle oil. This thing probably gets about 100 MPG. With all that said, I'm selling this bike as-is with no warranties expressed or implied. This is a very solid bike that is in great running condition; nevertheless, it is 37 years old, and could be made to last another 37 years in the right hands. It doesn't need much to make it perfect. Comes with original owner's manual and Honda factory shop manual as well. Sorry, but no tool kit came with this; otherwise, it's just like the day it rolled out of the dealer back in 1974. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
