Vehicle Detail

I'm the third owner. The previous owner owned it for 34 years. I made a copy of the title before I registered it in my name. I've owned it for just over 4 years. It had 13,534 miles on it when I bought it in March 2007. I believe it's in really good shape and runs great for a 40 year old motorcycle. It's the original Valley Green Metallic paint. There's 2 small dents on the left side of the gas tank. The one at the rear of the tank is about the size of a quarter. The other, at the front of the tank, is smaller. Both dents are shown in the pictures. The inside of the tank is very clean (see picture). There's also a few other minor scratches. The side covers are in real good shape, with no cracks. The bottom tab is missing from the right side cover. I'm including an extra right cover. It's not the greatest, but all the mounting tabs are intact. I was thinking I could epoxy one of the tabs onto the cover with the missing tab. The chrome is still real good, and shines up nice. The only chrome that has any pits is the taillight mount and maybe the turn signals. The 4-2 pipes are in great shape, and still sound good. All the work I've done on the bike while I've owned it, was aimed at making it safe and dependable to drive, rather than making it a show bike. Some of that work includes: 2007- I replaced the handlebars, mirrors, grips, throttle tube, both throttle cables, clutch, speedometer and tachometer cables, both fork rubber boots, fork seals, both upper and lower brake hoses, gas cap lock, tach seal, battery hold down, neutral switch, and I rebuilt the master cylinder. 2008- I rebuilt the top end of the motor including: new piston rings, valve guide seals, all gaskets and "O" rings and a new oil pressure switch. The cylinders were honed, the head surfaced and the valves were ground by a local engine rebuilder. I also replaced the taillight lens, gas cap gasket and the complete fuel petcock assembly. 2009- Replaced front wheel bearings, seal and "O" ring, cleaned and lubed speedometer drive, rebuilt brake caliper, replaced brake pads (aftermarket), replaced all rear wheel bearings, seals, retainers, and "O" ring, replaced swing arm bushings and grease fittings, installed a new DID "O" ring chain, 18 tooth front and 48 tooth rear sprockets (aftermarket), and a new fuse box. I also installed new Dunlop K70 Gold Seal tires, tubes and liners. Tires were balanced at a local motorcycle shop. Also installed a vintage luggage rack (included with bike). 2010- Replaced ignition switch and battery. Ignition switch is a genuine Honda part, but it has the later style double cut key. It's not the chrome "Tec" key. The fork lock still takes the original key. 2011- Rebuilt both gauges including new face plates, rubber grommets and light bulbs, cleaned and lubed both drive assemblies, replaced side cover rubber grommets and points plate including new points and condensers. All parts, unless otherwise stated, are GENUINE HONDA PARTS, purchased from local Honda dealers or various vintage Honda parts suppliers. Mileage- When I rebuilt the gauges, the original speedometer showed 18,961 miles. The numbers on the odometer were in really bad shape. They looked terrible with the new faces installed. I found a nice speedometer on ebay. It showed 9490 miles. I installed the new speedometer assembly into my old speedometer housing so that both gauges matched. I chose not to try to change the mileage to 18,961, because I didn't want to take a chance on breaking something. As of today, the actual mileage is 19,251. This may change slightly as the motorcycle is advertised locally. The rebuilt gauges work really nice. The needles don't jump around anymore, and they look really good at night with all the lights working as they should. Included- Extra right side cover, original speedometer, luggage rack, complete maintenance and parts records for the time that I've owned it, shop manuals, original rear hub and brake assembly, original owners manual and original tool kit. I'm not sure if the tool kit is 100% complete (see pictures). Issues- I put aftermarket brake pads on it. They don't seem to stop as good as the original ones did, and they leave a lot of brake dust on the rotor. I'd probably replace them someday. Every now and then, the clutch seems to chatter when I'm taking off. I've never done anything about it. There is an inch and a half long cut on the seat (see pictures). Actually, I think the cover might be separating in this spot. The rest of the seat cover is OK. Since the motorcycle is advertised locally, I reserve the right to end the auction early. Bike is clearly a 1971 K1, but title shows it as a 1972. It's no problem if you need some extra time to pick it up or arrange shipping.
