Vehicle Detail

Hello, you are looking at a 1983 BMW 735i which was imported from Germany as a grey market vehicle. I am the 3rd owner. I purchased it 4 years ago from a gentleman in Kentucky who purchased it from the original owner in Texas (who was a US military serviceman in Munich at the time and purchased it from the factory). I have all maintenance records and owner history since new! Despite the Michigan license plate, this car is located in Beaverton, OR as I had it moved when I relocated for work. Due to the accident occuring shortly thereafter I have not registered it in OR. First and foremost this car has been heavily damaged on the rear passenger side and rear quarter panel. This is the result of an accident in which I was T-boned by a careless driver. The insurance company marked the vehicle as a total loss and it will be sold with a salvage title. I have not had the vehicle inspected for the cost of repair. The car runs and drives quite well (and straight), and could be driven anywhere, but I figure most of you looking at this posting are considering it for its Euro-spec components rather than a daily driver, though repair is completely feasible. If you are local I would be more than happy to let you come test drive the vehicle. You can meet me in Beaverton and check it out! A little history regarding the Euro spec 7 series: This is a 1983 model, and the 735i was not available in the US until 1985 (though they share many parts, it is easy to source parts from Bavarian Autosport or the dealership). Features the high compression 3.5 Inline 6 cylinder motor with higher compression than the US spec and less emissions control for substantially more horsepower over the US spec. Features a manual 5 speed transmission, which was never sold in the US (with newer clutch) Features the more desirable European bumpers that are shorter than the US spec. Features the larger European headlamps and is equipped with the high pressure lens cleaning system (wipers have been removed, however). Aside from the instrument cluster, the entire interior is in German language. Includes US and German operators manual and service booklets. VEHICLE CONDITION: The paint is probably a 6 out of 10. There are numerous scratches that were corrected with a touch up brush done by the previous owners. There are stone chips on the front and rear of the vehicle from when it was shipped from MI to OR. There is also a dent in the gas tank door from when a driver in MI backed into the car in a parking lot. There is a small amount of rust around the sunroof gasket. The interior is in excellent condition I would give it a 8 out of 10. The front drivers seat was retrimmed by the original owner and is exteremely comfortable and has newer fabric on the seat. The passenger seat is probably in the worst condition as it is stiffer and the textile on the seats is fairly worn. The rear seat is in perfect condition and has an intact first air kit (in German, of course). The wood trim is also excellent, with the exception of the shifter trim plate which has some wear. The low gloss wood is beautiful and has no cracking. The instrument panel has 4 or 5 very minor cracks but is still in great shape. OWNER INSTALLED PARTS: The exhaust is custom fabricated and features a Magnaflow muffler done with help from fellow e23 owners on the bimmerboard forum. It was installed around 3 years ago and still sounds great. I installed a Clarion head unit with I-Pod connectivity. I have also installed Infinity Kappa speakers in the doors and back dash/parcel shelf. The car is also wired for 2 amps (4 channel and subwoofer amp) a subwoofer, and 1 farad capacitor though I am not selling those items with the vehicle. The steering wheel was professionally retrimmed in full grain leather and is only 1 year old. The BBS front spoiler was added about 2 years ago. It is in pretty good shape but there are some cracks on the side as a result of backing down a steep driveway. RECENT SERVICE: The car had its oil changed 50 miles before the accident. I also re-installed the bottlecap wheels that came with the car with nearly brand new Kumho tires. When purchased the clutch was replaced, top end of the motor was rebuilt with new valves, head gasket, resurfacing of the head to ensure proper fit. The front control arms were also replaced. I have all of these records. ADDITIONAL PARTS INCLUDED WITH SALE: I have a 5 series small diameter 3 spoke steering wheel as well as an entire set of interior components (vents, center console instruments, headlight and foglight switches). I also have a set of front grilles (minus the kidney grille) and replacement euro headlamps. A set of chrome mirrors from another Euro 7 series, though the mirror glass has some rust on the chrome layer. An underhood insulation/quiet kit from Bavarian Autosport An additional MAF and bunch of other random little parts, bulbs etc. Buyer must pay via PayPal or in person via cash or cashier's check within 3 days of auction close. If buyer is not local it is their responsibility for shipment of vehicle, if you are local we can arrange delivery. Thanks for your interest. I am happy to follow up questions and provide detailed photographs should you require them.
