This 1936 Chevy is in excellent restorable condition... It came to me not running and without brakes... It seems I have too many projects and this is the one I haven’t started on so it’s hopefully going to find a new home... It does run... i put a new battery and new front brakes... all the wheel cylinders have been rebuilt and the master cylinder works great... the rear shoes were still good so those were left but the fronts are new. The emergency brake is not working (i think the cables are rusted going into the drum) I got the engine running using a newer (50s) Rochester carburetor that has been rebuilt and put an aftermarket fuel filter on it... the gas tank was missing so i used one from a 36 parts car and just ratchet strapped the tank in as the straps are gone (easy find just wanted the tank in now) The brake lines are all new done by someone else as is the fuel line.. the original fuel pump works like a champ and has the external filter with it but no element inside ( can get this from CARQUEST) ... after i got the car running I disassembled the rocker rail to remove the old clogged oil so now the oil gets to the entire rail.. The radiator does not leak neither does the water pump... the oil has been changed and a detergent additive added to it... the gas is new with lead substitute... it is the older 216 engine with a three speed... I have driven this car a few times up and down my road and it shakes a little on takeoff then runs smooth when clutch is fully engaged but shifts fine as long as you know where the next gear is (i missed it a couple times ha-ha) This is an ALL STEEL car so no sagging doors due to rotten or dry rotted wood.. The floors are great even around the master cylinder hole (usual rust out spot the only rust through is on both back fenders where they bolt to the body. I have two fenders and the body parts to replace this from my parts car... the trunk is good and includes some original parts (jack, the engine crank/ lug wrench and some of the tire hold downs... all the windows except the drivers wing window roll up and down easily and the cowl vent opens and closes... the wiring harness is bad and needs to be replaced as there is bare spots where the old cloth coating has deteriorated but the generator is working as the gauge says.. The oil pressure gauge works as well... the speedometer isn’t working, not sure if it’s the cable or the speedo itself... If you’re looking for a GOOD start to a project or would like to put some time into it as is ... this is a great car for you and the price is in my opinion very fair for all you’re getting.
