Vehicle Detail
1973 Jaguar E-Type Convertible, 12-cylinder automatic transmission.Car is NOT RUNNING, and located in Talbot County, Georgia. What to say? I bought this in 1998 when I was a stupid kid and thought I was rich. It was nothing but trouble, and finally died after about 2 years. It sat in storage from 2001 to 2008, then sat in front of my dear sweet mother's house (under a tarp) from 2008 to the present. There is considerable rust in places on the underside, but only superficial corrosion on the body. The rust MIGHT just be bad on the bottom sides (see picture) and not that bad underneath. It's so low to the ground that I can't tell. Consider this a restoration project! Just assume everything needs to be either fixed or replaced. All the other info I can provide: I bought this car from a dealer in San Francisco who stated that the engine had been rebuilt after 60,000 miles. The odometer now registers 33,037 miles. So assume 90,000+ miles. The gas tank has rusted through at the bottom, in about a 6" diameter hole. The rust on the hood is minimal and could be buffed out and repainted. The radiator is an aluminum performance radiator from Classic Jaguar (http://www.classicjaguar.com/)The carburetors need to be replaced, and have been removed. (They'll be included if you want to try to rebuild them)I don't know if the numbers match. I don't really even know how to tell, which is pretty sad. The driver's side seatbelt needs to be replaced. The key still turns easily in the ignition. The driver's side door was replaced (before I bought it) and the paint needs to be buffed. The trunk release mechanism is broken and therefore the trunk won't open. The transmission was replaced in 1999. It always had overheating problems and the brakes squealed. (Again, just assume you'll need to replace the brakes).I found a dead possum in the engine. It is not included. This and the images are really all the information I can provide. I'm currently in Virginia and the car is in Georgia. If you are interested... If you would like to arrange a visit, please let me know. Just be nice to my mother. She will probably give you a glass of tea and some pimento cheese sandwiches. My sister will be able to help with directions via cell phone if you get lost. The car is sold "AS IS", obviously. I only guarantee that it's green. You will need to arrange transport if you buy the car. You'll need a flatbed wrecker, ramps, etc. The car is immobile and all tires are flat. This year/model of car does not require a Georgia title. Sale only requires a bill of sale and a proof of tax payment, both of which I can provide. On Jul-22-11 at 06:08:40 PDT, seller added the following information:The Car Number on the engine and driver's side plate is: UDIS21103BW. The VIN it's registered under in GA has a 5 instead of an S in it (typo, maybe they couldn't read my handwriting). The Engine Number on the plate is: 7S8269LA. Not sure if that's the same engine. I'm not in Georgia now so I can't check. I do have photos of the faceplate if that matters. All photos were taken Tuesday and Wednesday of this week (July 19th and 20th, 2011) before I left back for Virginia. Thanks so much for your interest! On Jul-22-11 at 06:45:11 PDT, seller added the following information:You can see all/more photos in high res at http://www.yourclasssite.com/jagpics/. Site may be slow on Sundays when my students are uploading their projects at the last minute. ;)On Jul-26-11 at 09:41:22 PDT, seller added the following information:The typo on the VIN registration is being fixed tomorrow. It's being certified by a county tag agent today (July 26th) and updated in the morning. On Jul-27-11 at 07:04:48 PDT, seller added the following information:Please note Buyer must arrange all shipping. I can't help you figure out how to ship the car. There are services that do that, so please find one and consult them. You can use the zip code 31836 (Woodland, GA) and be sure to tell them the car is immobile. On Jul-27-11 at 09:00:35 PDT, seller added the following information:Bill of Sale Here is what the Georgia Bill of Sale will look like: http://motor.etax.dor.ga.gov/forms/pdf/motor/t-7.pdf The odometer reading will be stated at 33,037 and the checkbox for "The odometer reading is not the actual mileage - Warning Odometer Discrepancy" will be checked, with a note that the previous mileage before rebuild was 60,000. No cheating :)On Jul-27-11 at 16:22:34 PDT, seller added the following information:Payment I'm sure it goes without saying, but you must pay for the car before you pick it up. :) Payment can be wired and must be in my account at least 48 hours before you pick up the car. My dear mother won't let it leave the property until she has confirmed with me that the full amount has been paid - in advance. Please do not bid unless you are prepared to pay in full before picking up, and unless you have figured out 100% how you will pick up/ship the car. Happy bidding!
