Vehicle Detail

Great looking car. Cadillac called the 1958 Models "Motordom's Masterpiece" and driving around Burbank I think a lot of people today still agree from comments, thumbs-up and waves I get. Drives nicely. Transmission shifts as it should. Starts up fine, runs pretty strong. There are some imperfections, of course. There is a tiny stain in the paint on the trunk lid where a drop of LockTite Red dripped and was wiped up but left behind a slight pink spot. Not very noticeable. All of the emblems are there and nothing is missing from the car that originally came with it, to my knowledge. Though this car has chrome wheels, the original wheels and hubcaps are available and included in the sale if the buyer wants them. I love old cars but I like them to be reliable and safe to enjoy driving. There are three major changes to the car from the original. The original power steering gearbox was replaced with a newer-style quick ratio Saginaw 800 box. The original power steering pump is retained and the upgrade is almost invisible. The original steering gear still works and is available if the buyer wants it. The original AM-only Wonderbar radio was professionally converted to AM-FM Stereo with an added input for iPod or XM tuner. The original front and rear speaker locations were retained and the upgrade is invisible. The radio looks and operates as it did before conversion and the original working power antenna was retained. The original front drum brakes and Bendix power booster system were replaced with front disc brakes and an Escalade power booster and caliper system. The brakes work *very* well and do not fade. The original drums and associated parts are available if the buyer wants them, however the original Bendix unit was not salvageable and is unavailable. Some other notable changes that are minor are, an electric fuel pump replaced a non-working mechanical pump. The original generator was replaced with a 10si alternator for better reliability. The breaker points were replaced with an electronic module.
