Vehicle Detail
Hello, thanks for looking at my 38 Chevy Coupe. This hotrod was built in the very late 70's/early 80's. It has three NSRA event stickers in the right front windshield. One of the stickers is dated 1984.The car was parked for approximately 25 years in an Indiana barn with a concrete floor. The amazing thing about it is how good it runs since the oil was changed and ignition tuned. That old Holley carb doesn't leak a drop and has tuned in perfectly. This car has a 455ci Buick big block. The casting numbers show it to be a 1970-71 350 horsepower engine, but you can hear a mild cam in it at idle. Don't know the specs on the cam. The engine is very clean internally which leads me to believe it was rebuilt. I know it runs really well since I finished the tune up. I also replaced the water pump. Hooked all of the exhaust back up and started driving it up and down the street. It has a Gm 400 Turbo transmission with the short tail shaft. It has a 57 Chevy rear end housing that was chromed. We did not take the hoghead apart so I don't know the gear ratio or if its posi but it will spin both back tires if you punch it some. The interior is two tone blue. The dash board is unmolested with original instruments and the dash lights work as does the dome light. So do the rest of the lights. In fact that old Sun Super Tach on the dash still works and so does that under dash Pioneer am/fm cassette player, at least the radio does. I have the hood side panels allthough they are not on the car currently. The body is very strait. I've been a bodyman for nearly fourty years so I know what I'm talking about. The glass is great with only a scant few bubbles along the edge of a couple of pieces but very good and usable. The wing glass both still crank in and out and the side glass goes up and down real well. It has the old Lakewood traction bars on the rear end. It has the original frame. All drum brakes. Electric auxilary cooling fan w/thermosat.Tilt steering wheel that looks like early 70's Buick which I think was the doner car for the updated [at that time ] parts. It has a manual rack and pinion steering rack on it.Don't know what it came off of. I don't like how it was done and since the boots are dry rotted off I would replace that entire rack setup. It would be much better with all of the steering available for hotrods today. The 4 wheel drum brakes work but I think the power brake booster is leaking vacuum so it is disconnected for now. Here are the items I don't have; Bumpers [none]; windsield wiper transmission and arms; stock coupe fuel tank. You could still go nostalgia with this car in which case I would put a drop strait axle in it.That would solve the steering issues too. I have been all over and under it. The floors have had some patch work done but by and large are still there. It looks like someone used some fiberglass matting in the very rear of the trunk floor. It was molded in real good and you don't really notice it but I want to disclose everything I know about the car.Who remembers Rocket brand wheels? They resemble Cragers. The car has four of those. Tires are shot but do hold air, one of them goes down about every two days. The car needs to be repainted I have a clear Indiana title in my name. I'm not a dealer I'm a bodyman and I'm known in my region for quality and speaking the truth, no fluff. There is a new battery in the trunk so I can start it everyday and move it around. It does not go with the car. Shipping: Buyer is responsible for shipping. I can assist in shipping or I can deliver within a 300 mile radius of Louisville, Ky. Please contact me for shipping arrangements BEFORE car is purchased. I can haul in an enclosed trailer. Full payment required before car leaves my possesion. The car is for sale here at my local shop in Clarksville, In. So I reserve the right to end the auction early. If I don't sell it here on ebay it will be for sale at the upcoming NSRA nationals in Louisville, Ky. Email me with sensable adult questions and I will respond. I can take pictures of most anything you need. I WILL TRADE around for other hotrods. Don't ask what kind just tell me what you have and I let you know if it is of interest to me. I'm not interested in trading up with boot money on my part but I may take your trade and some boot money.......Thanks again for looking On Jul-25-11 at 07:53:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve has been met.I have decided to let the auction run until it ends.
