1969 Mercury Cougar Convertible GT. This old cougar is ready for restoration, I drive it weekly, but the motor has a loud noise coming from it once you hit about 50 mph, i've been told it was the harmonic balancer, a $200 part, but I'm selling it as if it will need the motor rebuilt. The motor is a 1972 351 cleveland with the same casting numbers as the boss 351 motor, but if you have a question about the exact casting numbers then contact me through asking a question. It has a 4 barrel Holly carb and Holly intake and it runs great, except for the engine noise at higher RPM's. Like I said I drive the car weekly and it always starts up and drives around town. It will need paint, as the old paint is tired and chipping off. The only rust I can find on the car is in the lower rear quarter panels, which is an easy patch area. It has an automatic transmission that shifts well. The dash lights don't work, but the gauges all work, occasionally the gas guage doesn't. It has some aftermarket seat covers that are done well but will have to be replaced with vinyl to look original. Interior is in remarkable original condition except for the seat covers as noted. The top has 4 holes where some vandal stuck a knife through the canvas multiple times, you could have it patched, but a new top may be the best choice. This is a pretty solid car. It has power front disc brakes, which were a factory option, and power steering. No A/C, but hey it's a convertible. I have a Marti Report, and as far as Cougars go, this one is very rare. The pictures make the car look very good, but i've tried to bring back the paint but nothing is good enough. Automatic convertible top works. I'm sure i'm forgetting some things, so please ask questions. Exterior lights work. Seats are in good condition they are just incorrect custom seat covers. With a little work (brakes, and harmonic balancer) this car would be a fast and fun ride. Although the motor is not original this Cougar is a very rare car.
