Vehicle Detail
Here is a great old car that will appeal to the vintage racing folks. This vehicle is a piece of history. It is a 1961 MGA roadster that was converted into a racer around 1964. The engine number (see photo) is A16GAU 23681 and the car is titled under that number. The body number (see photo) is HNL91834. My friend owned the car from 1964 until 2009 when he passed away and we are selling the car for his estate. The car has spent its life in the Rochester New York area except for a period from approximately 1981 to 1991 when it was in New Jersey. The owner became a racing fan at age 18 and he modified the stock 1961 MGA during the 1964 through 1974 period. The car has altered fenders, suspension, gas tank, radiator, mirrors, doors, gauges and interior. It has racing style 5 point seat belts and racing tires, wheels and exhaust. See the 4 black and white photos included in this ad which were taking during the 1960s and 1970s. The owner wrote a terrific article about this car in 1970 and it was published in Road & Track Magazine. He later worked for Road & Track as an art director, photographer and sports editor. I can forward a copy of this article. The car last ran over 20 years ago when it was driven into a barn with dry conditions and a new concrete floor. It has rested on jack stands since then. The engine turns but I have not attempted to start it. I believe it will run fine after the necessary carb and ignition work is done. Everything on the car is complete. It comes with complete keys. This is a unique looking car. It comes with the transferrable New Jersey title. Included is a car cover, the original two front fenders, two aluminum doors, a large welded roll bar assembly (not currently installed in car), and two large piles of parts of all kinds. There are too many parts to inventory or list. If you are interested please come and take a look at the car. It is just outside of Rochester, New York. Car is being sold as-is. Buyer to arrange for pick up. Payment required within 5 days of completion of auction. We must sell this car and we have placed a low reserve on it. Email with any questions.
