Vehicle Detail

This 1974 MGB is an excellent restoration project. This is the last year of the chrome bumper cars. In 1971 they changed the interior adding a center armrest that tied neatly into the dash, making a much more refined and comfortable, but they broke with the traditional split MG Grill. In 1973 they brought back the classic MG Split grill and kept the updated interior. In 1974 1/2 they had to comply with the United States safety laws that mandated Bumper height and headlight height. So this is the best of the breed. This car has been in storage inside a warehouse for the past 10 years. I had just started a full restoration of the car when family issues caused me to put the car in storage and it has been there ever since. The paint is shiny, but has some chips showing up in some areas. The roof is dry and cracked around the rear windows. Cosmetically the car isn't bad, but i had intended a full strip and re-spray. the suspension had been totally replaced with lowered stiffer leafs in the back with rebuilt shocks, lowered stiffer springs in the front along with the negative camber wishbone arms, all from Victoria British. This car handles like a Go Cart. Quick precise steering and ultimate feedback makes this car one of the funnest cars to own and drive. I had begun tearing down the engine to pull it out for a complete rebuild and to strip the car for body and interior. The head is off the car so it does not currently run. I had purchased a new short block that had been bored .30 over with new pistons and crank, so you will be receiving one head and set of SU carbs, and 2 complete bottom ends. The car ran fine when it was parked and the head taken off, but its been in storage for a decade so it needs a thorough going through before being put back on the road. This car is special, and getting more so. These classic British cars are a vanishing breed and are truly spectacular to drive. This car is a perfect candidate for a restoration project, or a couple weekends wrenching will get it back on the road and bringing huge smiles to your face. True mileage is unknown, the odometer only shows 5 digits, but its kind of irrelevant on this type of classic car.Reserve is set very low, a few bids will probably match it so bid to buy.
