Vehicle Detail

Listed is a 1961 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite in need of assembly. This is an original 21,000 mile, rust free car, originally from California that had been off the road with the interior partially disassembled since 1965. I purchased the car a year and a half ago with the full intent to restore for my daughter who has now told me she has no interest in the bugeye (thinks it's ugly), and wants a Japenese import. So after countless hours of work....I'm officially done! We have several other projects going in the shop and I just do not have time to complete... Here are the details about the car. We have stripped the 99% rust and damage free body and have basically finished the body work with the body in it's final primer ready for finish coat. The British Racing green you see on the back was our test color. That's how close the body is to paint. All the floorboards, inner and outer rockers and front frame work were all in excellent condition and have had no repairs performed, Doors are fitted with the gaps excellent. Bonnet was in really nice condition with no previous damage or rust and has likewise been fitted to the body. The only fitting proceedure left is to secure the side panel braces. The original 948cc engine has been complete disassembled, with the crank turned to 010/010 specs, cylinder head completely reworked, new pistons, rings, seals, gaskets, lifters, timing chain, water pump, and various other small items replaced. Carburators are the original 1 1/8th inch SU's. they have been dissassembled and rebuilt using new rebuild kits and throttle shafts, Original transmission has been rebuilt with a new layshaft, gaskets, and seals. The original gears were in excellent condition. Clutch has been rebuilt with a new clutch disc and new springs in the clutch plate, Release bearing is new. Engine and Tranmission assembly were painted with the correct Moss Mtrs Olive Green.Gas Tank has been boiled and cleaned with a new sending unit included. Rear axle assembly was disassembled with a new pinion seal installed and the pinion preload and backlash reset. Rear wheel cylinders are new along with new brake linings, Drums have been surfaced. the whole assmbly along with the springs have been painted a hard durable gloss enamel black. Front suspension has been rebuilt with the king pins, fulcrum pins, and a-arms correctly set. New wheel cylinders and brake shoes have been installed. Front drums have been surfaced. Steering rack has been checked cleaned and painted. The original wheels have been sandblasted and powder painted the correct mild sliver. I have done what I believe to be an accurate inventory on the rest of the parts and feel secure that the car is 99% all there, even to the old interior pieces that line the trunk. All the dash pieces, surrounds, seats, pedals, hydralics, brake lines, nuts and bolts, What it does need arre new tires, new glass for the windshield, and a new exhaust. All these items should be replaced new anyway. Some new parts are included such as lenses and some other small asundry parts which are in the pictures.Hopefully I have pictured all the parts clearly enough to answer most questions but definitely fell free to email or call with any addtional questions. Now for the reality part...I'm not going to give this car away to some low-baller who thinks I'm not smart enough to know what the parts are worth...I DO!! It's what I do for a living as many of you know. The last bonnet I sold brought a $1000.00. The last rust free tub brought $1200.00. What I will do is offer the car at my reserve price to start off with. That's what I have in it. The 16 year old daughter is very interested in the final price as that will determine what she gets to spend on a car. If we don't get our price you can start buying it piece by piece the following week! This should finish out to be a really really nice bugeye. A BRG Bugger just sold for over $20.000 on ebay within the last 2 days, and this car should be at least as nice if not nicer with a little effort. If you've always wanted to get into doing a car, this is a great one to start with as all the basic hard and expensive stuff has been done, and not by some 1st time rookie or bondo bandit!!! Local pickup is not a problem and probably would best. We can deliver up to 500 miles from our location in Kansas City, Mo. 64108. Beyond that we can arrange transportion through a shipping company and strap the shell to a pallet. A $1000.00 deposit must be received within 24 hours after auction close. Full payment must be received within 7 days. No Exceptions or Excuses!! International buyers...forget it this time, unless you have arrangements to transport the car or contact me before bidding. Thanks for looking and good luck.On Jun-23-11 at 17:40:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I thought I better clarify...that is NOT my daughter in the background.... It is her brother. So you guys can stop with the HA-HA emails. He doesn't take well to being called a girl....(LOL).On Jun-23-11 at 17:44:02 PDT, seller added the following information: And, the Jaq XK 150 coupe is not for sale as it has already been sold....Sorry.
