The Austin-Healey Sprite is a small open sports car, which was announced to the press in Monte Carlo by the British Motor Company (BMC) in May of 1958, just before that year's Monaco Grand Prix. It was intended to be a low-cost model that "a chap could keep in his bike shed". The Sprite was designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company and made at the MG sports car factory. Over 50 years later, these beloved little cars have become affordable and fun weekend cruisers and vintage racers.
I’ve known this Sprite and its owner for nearly 15 years. The owner purchased it from a local body shop here in Southern California. It was literally in boxes. I helped him fit the entire car in his Ford Bronco II and delivered it to his garage in Huntington Beach. From there, it took nearly a decade to finish this car. As you can imagine, life did get in the way. The result though, was stunning.
This is a true “nut and bolt” restoration. Everything on this Healey has been restored. Nothing was left to chance. The owner loves the look of the Sprite racecars and decided to give it that period correct racing flair. However, it has never been raced but simply enjoyed on PCH and at the local car show scene.
During the restoration, the owner did very tasteful upgrades to make the car more fun while still preserving its character. Here are some of the details:

Many people have asked me if this is a streetcar or track car. It is really a show car. The owner never intended to track it. However, you probably could since it has most of the right stuff. The car is currently street legal and registered with license plates.

This Bug Eye Sprite is turn-key and ready to be enjoyed.
The owner also has the original windshield frame with glass (glass is cracked) and the original front bumper (needs chrome). These items are available with the car for an additional fee. There are no other spare parts.
