Vehicle Detail
Great Deal for someone who needs a refer van...or even a good dry van at this price!!! 184,062 is the actual mileage on this truck. Runs Great. Formerly owned by International Truck Dealer. First person who drives this van will buy it. Dual sliding doors in front. Swing open doors in back 38" opening. Ford 6.9 L is the best diesel Ford ever made. I know (below) looks like a lot to read...but it's all good stuff you need to know: Formerly owned by International Harvester as a parts truck. International (Navistar) original paint is still on it from 1987 and not in bad shape for the year. I added the chrome wheel simulators that makes it sharp looking. International special ordered this truck in 1987 to last forever. It's all aluminum with aluminum flooring, HD corners and supports riveted everywhere. It has 24,000 lb GVW (does not require special driver license), 4-Wheel Disc Brakes, Hydraulic with air-assist brakes, Power Steering, Back-Up Horn, HD everything and powered by a Ford 6.9 Diesel with Spicer 5 speed manual transmission. Tires have plenty of wear left on them... at least 50% rubber remaining on all six Michelins. A new alternator, front springs and 4-wheel brake job were done in 2010 before I packed my furniture in it and drove it from Tennessee to New Jersey in November. Total length is 21' of which 15' is cargo box. I am the third owner of this truck. I've only added 12K miles since I bought it in September 2007. I have a full time job so this has always been my weekend truck for whatever brainstorm I have going at the time. The second owner bought it from an International Truck dealership and made an egg delivery truck out of it. He added insulation to the box and installed the refrigeration unit that runs on a 220 volt cord (50' included in the sale) shown in the photo. A simple toggle switches power when driving for transporting whatever you need to keep cold. He also replaced the head gasket at 140K miles. I bought the truck in 2007 with 172K miles on it and used it at a local swap meet every Saturday selling produce. I put a pound of R12 refrigerant in it in 2008 and it cooled great until I quit the produce business in 2009. It still runs good, the compressor clicks on but only blows cool so I'm sure it needs another charge. As-is it cooled the box like air conditioning when I worked back there. In 2009 I added wood shelves and a tool box in it for a portable shop. But that business never got off the ground so today it's a rolling storage shed for trips to the dump. (see tires and an old tub in the photos) There is really no bad news on this truck. There are no leaks anywhere ...the engine and drive train are dry. The engine is strong and cranks right up. I recently had the oil and filters changed (fuel filter too). The clutch is perfect...grabs nice a few inches from the top. There is a trailer hitch on it and it is powered for the lights but the plug-in needs to be replaced. The passenger front window cracked this year but it's flat stationary glass so it is an easy fix. I started to re-do the cab interior with carpet in 2008 but got busy and never finished it. There are comfortable captain's chairs in the cab. The cab A/C doesn't work but the fan works and the heat blows. Window defrost works in the winter. I took off the A/C belt and didn't fix it because the refer running cooled the cab (with the walk-thru door opened a little). It's geared low because in 1987 the national speed limit was 55 mph. It will run up to 65 but is geared to run easy at 55-60 mph. I drove it up from TN to NJ at 60 and got passed like I was standing still. Don't plan on too much freeway driving with this truck unless the finger doesn't irritate you.. It's best for local city driving. I tried to cover everything I can think of but if you have any more questions please ask. Come and see it anytime. Franklinville NJ is in South Jersey about 45 minutes from Philadelphia. I can pick you up at the airport free if you buy it....or for gas money if you don't. This truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early if my buy now price is met. Good comparison truck for value in the link below.....paste the link in your browser and LOOK at the price for a smaller truck without the refrigeration unit!!! You have to copy and paste it because a mouse click won't get you there for some reason. http://www.commercialtrucktrader.com/find/listing/1987-INTERNATIONAL-1600-97378045/?zmc=stf
