Vehicle Detail
This car is possibly the only frame-off restoration of a XJ12 Coupe in the world! The car has been meticulously restored by pros down to the last detail, literally every nut, bolt and washer, and now shows-off a mirror-like black exterior with a stunning forest green leather interior. Once again she has all the beauty, and electrifying performance that Sir William designed into her, she is again truly glorious, better than new. A real 99 point car with only 200 miles on the clock since she came back into service; rolling art. Dave Smiff of Florida, a renowned professional restoration engineer rebuilt this car from the ground up for a very special customer, himself. Dave has been restoring British cars for over 45 years and he really did this car for himself, and it shows. Dave is a mechanic, so he entrusted another well-known specialist to restore the coachwork and paint finishes to their former glory. Derrick Dunbar, an experienced Rolls Royce trained upholsterer was chosen as the craftsman that would reproduce the magnificent interior from the finest materials and hides available. Only 1359 left hand drive examples of this model were made and it’s said that only 200 are still on the road! This is one of only 60 or so carbureted coupes that were ever made, and this is one of a handful still existing. This model came to be because British Leyland’s fuel injected engine wasn’t ready for the market in early 1975, even though lots of marketing had heralded the debut of the all-new fuel injected V12 Coupe for ‘75. So, British Leyland/Jaguar opted to use there proven shorter stroke high revving carbureted 5.4 liter V12 as a stopgap measure until the ejected engine was ready. These pictures will only give you an idea of how wonderful this car really is. However, if you are looking for a first class example of a V12 coupe this is the one you’ll want. Its cost is far less than that of rebuilding one or buying a new Jaguar. Consider adding this beautifully handcrafted reincarnation of a classically graceful car to your collection, it is a premium quality example of the marque. Thank You for your interest and your bid, good luck!
