WATCH THE VIDEO & ENJOY! 1979 Trans Am 10th Anniversary Pace Car This is a 1979 10th Anniversary with Daytona 500 Pace Car Appearance Package. This car is very clean and just out from a frame on restoration with less than 500 miles since completion. It has placed “Best In Class” at the FbodyGathering in Atlanta GA a F-body only show which featured over 300 Camaro’s and Trans Am’s this past Memorial day weekend. The car shows 63,xxx miles which I honestly do not know if that is true or not. We run Fbody Warehouse and part of our business we devote to creating install videos on the various products and services we offer the Fbody owner. The best way to do this is to find good clean cars and simply put restore them and show the average guy how to do the various parts installs at home. We have done this with many of the new products that are installed on this car. This car came out of Alabama and was a rock solid foundation to bring back to life. We have tons of pictures throughout the process to document all of the work step by step. This way you the owner know exactly what you are getting and will not find the “corner cutting” you often find from a car for sale on ebay. You will also receive with the car a photo album documenting the process and also the “Best In Class” trophy the car has won. One other cool item is we had Scott Settlemire with General Motors who involved in the Camaro platform has signed the sun visor. It does not make the car more valuable but is a pretty cool little piece of the car’s history. So here is the info you need to make a solid choice if this is the car for you and be sure to watch the video below also and you will see in depth more about the car then just a few pictures can say. INTERIOR: The following parts in the cabin are new. PUI Door Panels, PUI Seat Covers(about 1 year old on the seat covers) Trim Parts Sound Deadener, ACC 10th Anniversary Shag Carpet, REM Deluxe Package Tray, GaugeMarks Under Wire Channels, OER Sill Plates, Palco Dash Cap, OER Center Console, OER, Console Bin, Trigger, Spring Set, and Bin Liner, OER Console Back Plate, Parts Place Center Console Map Pocket, Fbodywarehouse Cup Holder, Fbodywarehouse Full Interior Screw Kit “Pro Pack”, ACME Sun Visors, NOS GM Rear Armrest Panels, ABF Full t-top trim package 12 piece including Y’s Front Caps, Rear Caps, Upper Seat Belt Covers, T-top mounted Trim Plates, and Headliner U Trims. OER Seat Belt Guide Bases, OER Shifter Bezel, REM Filler Strap, OER Red Bird Shifter Emblem, Performance Years Horn Button Emblem, REM Silver Shifter Bezel Inlay OER Window Felt Blocks x6. OER Dash Chrome Roller Vents L/R. Keen Door Handle Cups, Needa Door Lock Pulls, OER Radio Face Plate & Knob Set. The following parts are reconditioned: A Pillar Posts, Front / Rear Headliner Trim, Floor Pans, Steering Wheel & Horn Button, Console Map Pocket. The radio facte plate and red light indicator on the shift bezel were reset to proper colors for the car. The radiois a 1981 Daytona Pace unit which features the “Red Light” lamp package and Cassette Deck. This is of course the high end GM unit. The interior has been properly reset to color using SEM interior dyes and all items are clear coated using the proper low luster clear coat for a factory style appearance. Simply put the interior is a pretty as it gets! Note all cabin lights including the deluxe map light, under dash accent lighting group and glove box light all work. The power trunk release functions great as well. EXTERIOR: The car was painted in April and was taken down to factory primer and bare metal. The following items on the exterior are new: OER 3 pc front spoiler Urethane Unit. OER Spoiler Welting. OER 4 pc side marker lights, AU Door Handles, OER Door Lock / Trunk Lock Kit, NOS GM Lock Gaskets, OER Red Nose Crest, Phoenix Graphix 10th Anniversary Decal Kit with Daytona 500 Pace Car Supplemental Package. New replacement Lug Nuts and GM Authorized Red Bird Center Caps. OER Side Mirror Gaskets Binswinger Installed New Windshield The following items were reconditioned: Fbodywarehouse Tail Light Restoration Service on tail lamps and also nose mounted turn signal lights. The factory Turbo Rims have been machine turned and have a power baked clear coat for a maintenance free shine and come with warranty. EXTERIOR BODY: We painted the car back to the GM colors and the paint looks great of course. It is not a 100 point paint job as being metallic flake it does show some mild patchiness in some areas. (See Video to see this better and pictures.) Rust was not an issue on this car and was as rust and rot free as you’ll find in any Southern car. The floors were taken down as was the trunk and painted The floor pan had 3 or 4 spots smaller then a dime which were welded properly. The trunk was amazing with one spot roughly ¼ of an inch in size.. The rear valance panel is excellent also. See pictures and video of course. The front and rear bumper covers are very nice and the front is factory punch for a front license plate In Tennessee we run only one tag on our cars but I will include a 3 pc GM license plate assembly for the nose cone with the car. We did replace the front fenders due to pings and dings and did away with the dreaded power antenna as they always seemed to fail. Note the new front glass does have the radio antenna built into it as it should. I would rate the paint job at a solid 8.5 out of ten. EXTERIOR WEATHER SEALS: Simply put they are ALL new replacements using Metro Molded with a 15 year warranty. New Seals Include, Metro T-top Primary, Secondary, Door Hull, Trunk Seal, Bump Stop Kit, also OER Shaker Seal, 3 pc Rear Cowl Seal and Muscle Car Industries correct “Thin Beal Glass Runs. Being the door panels were new they came preloaded with PUI inner glass runs. We also added OER window felt blocks (Window Guides). The car also has a REM Shaker Hood insulation blanket and a NORWOOD shaker drain tube. TRUNK: The trunk pan was grinded to bare metal and reset using 3-M Undercoating. It also has a new REM trunk mat. The trunk like the interior & exterior simply looks like new. The proper Mark Osborne Reproductions jacking instruction & Caution Aluminum Rims decal were put back into place. Note the trunk light does work. ENGINE BAY: This is of course a matching numbers 403 automatic car and the radiator support, cowl inner fenders etc have been cleaned and dust coated / clear coated for a clean crisp fresh look. The cold air duct set is all intact and features a NOS GM Hose, and Performance Years Primary Lead Duct and Elbow. The proper Mark Osborne Reproductions Emissions decal, Keep your GM All GM Air Filter Decal, and Caution Fan Decal & Harrison Radiator AC decal are also set in place. The car has a new battery and factory replacement battery tie down set. The engine bay looks really sharp and with some light additional detailing to the block etc will be show worthy also. The engine & transmission has had a tune up including, oil, transmission fluid change, filter and screen. The car starts smoothly, runs even smoother and runs down the interstate all day at 70 like you are driving on a cloud like the Trans Am should. SUSPENSION: Everything is tight and the car had new tie rod ends (Moog) and also sway bar end links installed. (Energy Suspension) We then had it aligned and the only item in the suspension with any wear is the center link was not worn enough to warrant replacing. The brakes all function and work well It is 4 wheel disc of course with WS6 suspension package. WHAT IT NEEDS: Of course like most 1979’s the Heat / AC & Fan do not function. It will need the compressor & lines and some loving as they all do. The passenger side exhaust manifold gasket does have a small leak and will need a new gasket to have the exhaust sounding as nice as the car. It is not “loud” but you can hear it lightly. The Headliner is very nice and was recovered fairly recently but not perfect and cuts just short at the sun visor to Y trim. The engine does not leak or burn oil but I would think would need a refresher someday soon. Has typical engine chatter for a stock engine. Cruise control needs the stalk replaced to function. High beams and horn will need attention. WHAT IS “INCORRECT” I put this in for the collectors out there who may be interested in this car. The power lock system which is a weak design is intact but when installing the new door panels we did NOT cut the power locks into the new door panels. Everything is there but the switches were worn and the poppers were not popping as they should so we closed off the system. The steering wheel has been re-dyed but is not the true 10th leather wrapped wheel. It is a show worthy wheel removed from a 1981 model. As mentioned above the car does not have the power antenna any longer, wiring wise I believe is mostly intact should you wish to reinstall this option. The new windshield does have the glass mounted antenna built in so having a radio is no issue of course. The radio as mentioned above is the high end Red Light unit but is from a 1981 Daytona Pace and is the cassette instead of the 8 track. Deluxe seat backs were cleaned up and nice but I would say for a true show car you want to replace with new units. OVERALL: In a nutshell we have the car on the road and drove it nearly 450 miles to the Fbody Gathering show in Atlanta where it won best in class first time out of the gate. It is of course road worthy and we do drive and enjoy the car. For the average enthusiast this will probably be one of the nicest Trans Ams you will ever own. It still needs a few minor things (They are never truly “all done”) but these are minor things and overall the car is ready to drive to your local cruise nights and shows. This is not Mechum auction car but man she is pretty and really stands out in a crowd. PRICE: Some will ask why such a low starting bid? The answer is simple we buy all of our products at the same price as Classic or Year One from the various venders as level one wholesalers of Fbody parts, so putting one of these cars back to great shape s not as expensive for us as it is the enthusiast. We do most of the work here ourselves and hence the labor is not crazy. We have roughly 200 hours into the car labor wise and I think the car will put a solid amount as proof is in the pudding as they say. Quality speaks for itself and this really is a sharp Trans Am which stands out from the crowd. TERMS: Car is sold as is where is and you will need to pay a deposit via Pay Pal when you buy this prevents Ebay scammers from wasting your and my time. You are bidding to BUY not to kick tires. If you bid and do not buy the car you will still have to pay us the listing fees from ebay. (AKA sorry I lost my job, etc etc etc won’t cut it, if you can not afford this car do NOT bid.You will need to arrange transport of the car within 30 days of the end of the auction. We do however want payment in FULL in 7 days from the end of the auction. The car will need to be picked up prior to June 30th or after July 11th as we will be judging an F-body Show from June 30-July 11th. If you live outside the USA we do NOT accept bank transfers, bank checks, etc. We can put you in touch with some companies which export worldwide but you will need to arrange this. Payment however must be made via Pay Pal or cash in hand at pick up. By bidding you accept these terms and conditions. They seem a bit much but this makes for a better auction environment for you and us. Trades, LOL no I don’t want your Mustang, motorcycle, ATV, or Gator, I don’t need a Pool Table, a generator, or anything outside of cold cash in hand. Sorry to be so blunt but you know out of the gate where we stand. QUESTIONS: When you buy a car from the web of course we encourage you to ask questions, call us or come out and test drive the car of course. We have nothing to hide on this car and want you to be 100% happy. So CALL US ask questions, request pictures. You are not buying a $300 beater car you are buying a great investment car which will grow in value and hence you should be very proactive in that choice. By doing so you will be comfortable both with us and also buying this car. We can be reached 9 – 5pm at 423 949 6820 and will answer any questions you have of course.
