This auction is for my wifes 1981 GL500 Interstate. I bought this for her three years ago when she started riding and she has moved up to a Goldwing. This bike is in perfect mechanical condition and I would not hesitate to ride it home from anywhere. The fact that you are looking for one means you already know how dependable they are. She rode it for a year with no problems what so ever, but it of course needed some attention and this is what has been done to it by me. New brakes, tires, and battery at about 87,000... and then I came across a Naked 82 GL500 with only 22,000 miles on it. I went though that motor with all new seals, water pump, rebuilt carbs, replaced the drive shaft, and anything else that was better then the one on hers. The air ride holds air forever front and rear as well. The only things missing are the removable Clarion faceplate for the tunes, the antenna, and the grab rail for the second seat. The amp, speakers, head unit are all there but have never been used so I cant say if they work or not. I also replaced the crummy useless Interstate mirrors with the set of handlebar ones from the other bike, and replaced the chrome front Interstate windshield trim with a black one I had in stock. This bike comes with the two up seats (the grab rail is missing) large rear trunk, saddle bags, and a neat rear luggage rack built by the last owner, all in great condition. I do not have the OEM rack and set back for the rear trunk sold with some of these bikes so you can have the rear trunk and a passenger. This is a one key bike! with all locks working including the helmet locks. If you want a fun, light, gas saving bike to ride to work every day, that is set up for a trip or two to boot these little Silverwings are it. If the bike sells for it and you show up with a trailer I will throw in the original motor that is missing only the carbs and starter. It ran perfectly but does have about 87,000 on it.
