The body shows well wearing the original paint except on the passenger rear quarter panel, which appears to have been touched up at some point (see photos). The paint has worn thin on a few body creases and the tape stripe on the right rear of the car is wearing off (reproduction tape stripe included with sale). This is a California car (still has its original blue and yellow plates) that was in storage for much of its life. There is a a tiny spot of rust starting in the driver side rear wheel well (see photos). The body is straight but does show some nicks, chips, and fading. All chrome and moldings are present. The rear bumper chrome looks great (straight and no pitting) and front bumper does not have any holes (but paint has faded). The car is equipped with the original 14" wheels with hub caps and trim rings showing minor scrapes. The front windshield was replaced in 2004 and received new weather stripping as did the rear window. The door glass is in good condition (minor chip on edge of driver's) although they need new weatherstrips (included with sale). Overall the exterior of this car looks good considering its age and originality. Interior: The interior of this Mach 1 is original except the radio (original AM radio, dash speaker & un-cut radio plate included in sale). It is outfitted with the Red (Vermilion) Comfortweave (Mach 1) coded 5E. It also features the Mach 1 Sports Interior Group, Select-Shift Cruise-O-Matic, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Sport Deck Folding Rear Seat, SelectAire Air Conditioning (stopped blowing cold air in 2006), Deluxe Belts, Warning Light, and Tinted Glass. The interior shows its age in a few spots such as: cracked door panels (reproduction door panel skins included in sale), worn driver's side rubber floor mat, clock in left instrument cluster does not work and adjustment knob fell off (still have knob), console ash tray lid does not close completely, and small tear in back seat near seat belt opening. The dash and steering wheel have no cracks and look great. Carpet looks good. Seats and seat belts show some wear / discoloration. Headliner was replaced in 2004. Glove box, sun visors, dome light, coat hooks, sill plates, shifter, pedals, gauges, and console lid are in good condition. Engine: This Mach 1 has its original, numbers matching 351 Cleveland 4V V8 - coded M in the VIN. This version of the 351 Cleveland was built with larger intake and exhaust valves, smaller combustion chambers, hotter hydraulic cam, Autolite carb, and 10.7:1 compression ratio. The following modifications have been made to the engine: Carter AFB (4bbl) 625 cfm carburetor, Pertronix Ignitor II electronic ignition conversion, Pertronix Flame Thrower II ignition coil. The car runs strong on premium unleaded gasoline (please see video of short drive in the car). Transmission, suspension and brakes: This Mach 1 has its original C6 Automatic Transmission coded U which has been fitted with a B&M Shift Improver kit to give it firmer shifts (parts to return to original are included with sale). The rear end is equipped with a 3.00:1 ratio rear gear coded 6. Since this Mach 1 is equipped with the 351 Cleveland 4V, its Competition Suspension includes a rear stabilizer bar and staggered rear shocks. It is also equipped with power front disc brakes and power steering. The car rides, steers and stops good. Trunk: The car is equipped with the original "space saver" spare tire, inflation canister and jack which appear unused. The trunk floor appears solid (see photos).
