Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a beautiful 1968 BMW R60/2 with a STEIB S500 LUXUS Sidecar. I originally bought this bike in 1975 and it was in pristine condition with under 15,000 miles. I found the 1953 Steib S500 about 6 months later and mounted it on the bike. At that time I changed the bikes springs to the heavier sidecar versions, installed a sidecar rear drive with ratio of 3.86:1 which is a 27/7 as per BMW specs. The speedometer was changed to a 1,38 to match up with the new rear drive, it showed 0 miles. A cast aluminum deep oil pan was installed with the extended pickup. Front swingarm pivot was moved to the forward position and upper shock mounts lowered to the bottom mounting hole. Handlebars were changed to the wider 28" bars as recommended by BMW. Over the years the bike was ridden occasionally on weekends and to bike shows. BTW it always won first place. Sometime in the mid eighties I had to sell the rig but was able to buy it back after about ten years. In 1995 I restored tke bike to its present condition. Cleaned slingers, new main bearings, new rings, new oil pump and carbs rebuilt. Painted the bike and sidecar with many coats of acrylic lacquer, color sanded and buffed to perfection. Hand pinstriped. Replaced all rubber parts and gaskets. Installed stainless steel rims and spokes on the bike as well as a polished stainless steel bolt kit. Complete set of EPCO stainless steel header pipes and mufflers. This week I installed a new battery and ignition coil, points, plugs and condenser. This bike has the large 6.5 gallon sport tank (no rust), original Hella bar end signals, Denfeld solo seat (this was on the bike when I first bought it in 1975), rear fender mount luggage rack, original and complete tool kit. The odometer is showing just over 2,000 miles since it was installed in 1976. All numbers match. This bike has been pampered and ridden gently over the years. All original keys, steering lock, tool box, ignition (1 regular and 1 spare) and sidecar trunk. Winning bidder will receive many spare parts and manuals (see pictures). CUSTOM BUILT TRAILER with ramps and tie downs is included in this auction. No shipping necessary on this one, just get a trailer hitch and pick it up. ONLY bidders in the Continental United States. Down Payment of $500 from Paypal within 48 hours of close of auction (non refundable). Balance to be paid by Certified Cashiers Check from U.S. bank or cash at time of delivery. Yes, and I have added a picture of it.On May-31-11 at 06:47:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Question received many times: Can you ship this motorcycle to me and what would it cost? As stated above, this auction includes a CUSTOM BUILT TRAILER. You would probably save money and have less chance of damaging the bike if you paid someone to drive here and tow it back to your home. I appreciate your questions and interest, thank you.
