Vehicle Detail

These are quickly fading. Here is a 1959 Triumph TR 3A. This car is equipped with three of the most sought options, 1) Overdrive transmission, 2) Chrome (not painted) wire wheels, 3) Fog and driving lamp and badge bar. I have had this car about seven years. In that time the carbs have been replaced with new units. The steel wheels were replaced with new chrome wire wheels, (spare is a bias tire as a radial will not fit in the well, it is on a new painted wire wheel). The water pump and thermostat housing were replaced. The ignition system was restored to points (prior owner had switched to breakerless ignition). The temperature gauge was sent out for rebuild. A new battery was installed. New fuel pump installed. A new ignition coil as well. The front brake lines were upgraded to braided steel wrapped lines, calipers were rebuilt and detailed. New hand brake cable and rear brakes adjusted and drums detailed. The car comes with all the canvas newly covered side curtains in protective sleeves, a soft top that appears new (plastic windows are as new), convertible top cover (as on the car in pictures) and a tonneau cover. The interior is good to excellent (recovered seats and new carpet including reflective foil under the carpet) also equipped with the rear "seat". If you are familiar with this model you will know why seat is in quotation marks. Included is a looseleaf notebook detailing prior owner's parts and service expenditures. Also included is the original style jack and ratcheting handle. There is also a wooden laminated protective wrench for the chrome knock-offs on the wheels. There are assorted "odds and ends" parts included (radiator hoses and clamps etc). I rate the cars fit and finish at a 7-7.5 on a scale of 1-10. For the most part the finish is good, there are a few dings and scuffs and you can see where the prior owners had a suction cup luggage rack installed. Reminds me that the hood and boot hinges are also new. The brake and clutch master cylinders were removed disassembled and all the brackets (under hood and under dash) were glass beaded and repainted. One final observation, the glove box is in the best condition that have ever run into. Car comes with one ignition key and one glove box key and one for the boot. I've tried to take pictures from all the angles that I would like to see, if there are any additional views desired please let me know and I will try to accomodate your request. The car starts and idles well ( no oil burning) all the gears are strong. If allowed to sit for too long a period of time it takes a little effort to get her going. The starter is strong, but will kick out if left engaged too long. The overdrive works in all upper gears 2-4, with second being a little hit or miss due to linkage wear, but I hardly use overdrive unless I am in fourth gear anyway. The car marks it's territory(small amounts of tranny lube and differential oil), I've never understood why the British cannot build a car that doesn't leak something. I don't have the time to enjoy this car properly and hope that it will find a good home and provide years of enjoyment. If you've made it this far, thanks, please ask any questions that arise, I try to monitor my auction a few times a day and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Again please ask BEFORE you bid. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer ( I will try to help with the arrangement if desired). Please overnight a 10% deposit (Cashiers Check) and pay the balance in the following ten days. I've tried to describe the car as accurately as possible, if there are any further descriptions or questions, feel free to drop me a line. Please note: the mileage is what is on the odometer, after fifty plus years, actual mileage cannot be verified. Hopefully one last note: vehicle is equipped with an accessory electric radiator fan mounted out of sight on the front of the radiator assembly. The switch is mounted also out of sight under the dash board within easy reach of the driver.
