Vehicle Detail

1979 Pontiac Trans Am Special Edition Y84 2 Owner All Original, True Y84 Special Edition, #'s Match Introduction: Up for auction is an extremely rare 1979 Pontiac Trans Am Special Edition "Bandit". I will spare you the all the Smokey and the Bandit clichés and get down to the business of this fine automobile. In 1979 this Trans Am was purchased new at Frank Moll Motor Company in Mt Vernon, IN by a couple that owned it up until 1998. The car has been garage kept and pampered its entire life. It is one of the cleanest, most reliable Trans Am I have owned. This Bandit is a very solid, very tight, and very dependable. Let's take a walk around it and see what all she has to offer. Exterior: Drenching all of the classic Trans Am lines is a lustrous Starlight Black (code 19) paint. This car has had just one repaint and still maintains 100% its original sheet metal. The paint and body are in excellent condition with no rust and a deep glossy shine. Paint is a strong 9.5 out of a 10. There is one chip on the passenger side quarter panel that has been touched up, it is less than 1/4" in size. Body lines and panel gaps are dead on! All of the gold pinstripping and decals are in perfect condition without any fading, chipping, or cracking. The body is razor straight and has an undistorted, mirror-like, reflection on all panels. The glass in the car is in great shape and without any chips or cracks. The Fisher T-tops fit snuggly into place and are in great condition as well. All of the weatherstripping on this car is in excellent condition. Nothing has been cut up or chopped up on this car. It is very solid and original. Interior: Open either door and step into nicely appointed muscle car interior. The bone stock black deluxe interior is in outstanding condition and has been nicely preserved. There are no rips, tears, or stains on any of the interior surfaces. The original dash is in exceptional condition. All of the gauges function properly including the clock and the ignition and seatbelt buzzers still work. The heat and AC work great. A/C blows cold! Cruise control works! Windows roll up and down with ease and seal up very snuggly. The original GM rubber floor mats are still in tact. The trunk still has the original spacesaver spare as well as jack and lug wrench. The original Fisher T-Top bags also find their home securely in the trunk compartment. Mechanical: Turn the key and bring to life the NUMBERS MATCHING 6.6L 403 Olds V8. The engine is very strong, runs smoothly, and doesn't smoke under any throttle position, from idle to wide open. She always starts, runs cool, and has never left me stranded. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car any distance. The TH350 trans shifts out nice and firm the way it is supposed. All of the steering and suspension components were recently rebuilt including the steering box, so this car handles and drives better than new. The brakes bring everything to a halt promptly and smoothly. The snowflake wheels are wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A rubber all the way around. The car is very road worthy whether its 30 mph on a back country road or 75 mph on the Interstate, this car is right at home. At 70 mph she sings along right at 2300 rpms all day long. The floors and trunk are extremely solid and rust free. We located a complete build sheet behind the rear seat as well as a partial build sheet under driver's seat. This car is one of nicest, most complete and solid, Trans Ams around. Details: Thank you for taking the time to walk around this gorgeous 1979 Special Edition Y84 Trans Am. If you have any questions or feel I have left something out, please don't hesitate to shoot me an email or call, (502) 316-4857. Buyer is responsible for a $1000 deposit within 48 hours of auction completion and the balance is due within seven days of auction's end. I reserve the right to hold the vehicle's title until all checks clear my bank as advised by my bank. Buyer is responsible for shipping charges. I have shipped a few cars and can help when and where I can. I can usually get better rates working directly with the transport company as opposed to using a brokerage service. Thanks again for looking and Happy Bidding!!
