Vehicle Detail

'Rocco Retro Cult Classic.... ya love'em or hate'em, turns out my wife hates the body style and doesn't want to look at it in the driveway, so I gotta sell rather than restore. I was going to convert it to electric, but no-go from the wife. There are back seats, but not a lot of headroom for taller kids. The two-door hatchback style gives a surprising amount of cargo space in the back. Motor runs well, has A/C, set of great snow tires on original 'performance' aluminum wheels. Interior is in good shape and has new dash pad and seat covers. Body is virtually rust-free, but has a minor ding in right front fender, crunched left rear corner has been hammered out, but not bondoed (tail-light assembly has been replaced). One major issue at the moment is that I was attempting to get the transmission to shift better, and found that the one main lever that provides adjustment between the gearshift and linkage has a broken weld which explains why gears were getting so hard to find... Replacing this part would make the car drivable, but I just don't have the time to track down and install this for yet another project car... Other (minor) known issues w/ car are that: - Needs a new radio... - It will need brakes pads before too long, and should get a oil change, filters, etc for a fresh start. - A/C doesn't seemto get very cold, but car has sat for a while without use and probably just needs a freon recharge. - It is not idling very well, but seems fine at higher speeds. I suspect something in the fuel system like a sensor, plugged filter, or vacuum leak. Might need to followup w/ VW to see if the gas tank needs to be replaced on recall they had years ago. - I bought this car from previous owner with a 'Salvage Title'. His insurance company thought it would cost more to repair the body than the car was worth, so he bought it back cheap, and drove it for a while before selling to me. This is not a problem with License/Registration, just something to be aware of regarding future value as a restoration project and/or you cannot drive a Salvage vehicle into Mexico. Front wheel drive, 5-speed manual, and only has 121k miles on it! This would be a good car after some repairs, or a good parts car for somebody restoring another Scirocco. Wheels, tires, and glass are probably the most valuable items on the car in addition to the motor itself. I have set first bid at $200 because thats what I can get for it at local scrapyard which is where its is headed unless someone rescues it.
