Vehicle Detail
1977 Ford Granada 4-door bought from original owner in 2006. I am second owner and have maintained and upgraded the car meticulously. Original mileage is 65,120 miles; engine and transmission have never been rebuilt, and this car rides and picks up strongly, like new. Since I bought it in 2006 from original owner, here is a list of what has been done. New tires, battery, coil, ignition module, carburetor rebuild, new fuel pump, alternator, battery, starter, cables, fuel tank, NOS side moldings, suspension rubber, all suspension springs and perches, upper/lower ball joints, brakes and brake lines, all hoses, rubber mounts, new paint job (original color) and bumpers, NOS rear lights, NOS front light grills, new heater core, heater blower motor, windshield wiper motor (nothing wrong with old heater or windshield motors, but I had new NOS versions so figured might as well); and regular maintenance with 3,000 mile oil changes, inspections, and care. Radiator flushed, and all oils changed out yearly by local shop. When car was painted professionally, a NOS hood ornament was installed, with NOS FORD chrome rocker panels; plus both front door hinge pin/bushings were replaced. All four door striker plates have new bushings. Car has been garaged inside and is driven regularly. It is registered as a regular, street-operational vehicle with current safety inspection. I have too many cars and must let this one go. With all the TLC in it, my loss is your gain. It has plenty of life in it, no leaks, no tail pipe smoke, no shakes, no shimmy, drives straight, no sags, original sales receipt when sold by dealer, original owners manual included. Inside, headliner is original, seat covers were redone professionally using same color vinyl, wood-grain dash panel is NOS; original front seat was a plain bench and I replaced with an electric-adjustable one from a Mercury Monarch. So, the front seat is now power (up-down; front-back) with a center divider/arm rest for driver comfort. Dash pad is NOS and vinyl was stained to match original shade. Carpets are new, when old one was removed; the build sheet was found and is photographed here. Some photos have an older date, but rest assured all photos were taken by me in April 2011. Reason photos may show older dates is that I did not set date on my digital camera. When new carpet went in, I had Dynamat sound deadener installed inside doors and on floor. Minimal surface rust was found near driver’s footrest and did not need repair. There is some surface rust on body that I have tried to show in photos. Radio is 200W USA-2 model from Custom AutoSound, professionally installed to fit dash without cutting. Front and rear speakers are high quality units from Crutchfield and sound awesome. Radio has a AUX-IN connection in back, the black wire you see on custom-console can be hooked to any MP3 player to play through the 4-speakers. A/C unit works just fine; checked yearly but it keeps its charge and has not needed recharging. All climate controls work as they are supposed to. Four-place mats are the expensive, heavy duty kind, from Weather Tech. Speaking of custom console in photos, I built it from wood, installed a cup holder, storage area, and several gauges (Stewart Warner; vacuum gauge, oil pressure, temperature, voltmeter; plus Ammeter) to give full idea of engine, battery, etc. All original warning lights still work since special fittings were used to accommodate sending units for gauges and the warning lights. All buzzers work on this car. The accessory, custom console was painted to match inside. It is not screwed to floor, just sits on carpet and is stable. If you do not like it, removal is easy; the wires from the custom console are hooked to plug-in receptacles, so that the console can be unplugged from car and removed. Pretty slick once you see it; but the gauges are cool and are hooked to the dash lights/dimmer unit; the whole set up works really well and gives the driver about all the information you need. From a same-year Lincoln Versailles, I had a 9-inch rear transaxle installed on this Granada, which makes it a 4-wheel disc brake car; all hardware, brake lines, master cylinder are heavy duty and new. Drive shaft was balanced, has new U-Joints. Car has power brakes, power steering. From same Lincoln, the steering column was also transplanted, so this Granada now has a tilt-column, with intermittent wipers, using original Ford wiring harness (not cutting or splicing). My plan was to complete the cruise control installation also, and it is all there, except for the vacuum servo that goes under the hood (I have the unit, but still looking for bracket; will include what I have with car). And, the parking brake foot pedal is with a vacuum operated release; if you move shift lever to Reverse or Drive, the parking brake releases automatically. Very cool set-up. Dash clock on passenger side works fine, it is NOS-Ford, installed a year ago and wired into original harness. When you open glove compartment, a little button will open the trunk; this was a rare original Ford option and this car has it. Rear defroster also came with the car. Windshield has a small ding in it from a rock; that was repaired with epoxy by a glass professional, and that area has remained stable. Everything works in this car, driving at 70+ mph is not a problem and the car is drivable anywhere. Title is clean; you can drive this car daily. People stop and ask questions every time I pull up at a gas station. If anything was found to be worn or questionable, it was replaced promptly as you can tell. Only issues I know of is that the dash panel light for the fuel gauge does not work (gauge works fine); and after conversion to the rear disc brake set up, I have yet to get the parking brake adjusted to get it to work. Oh, and that cruise control set up needs a servo, all else is already in place. That is all that the car needs; if you find a better-kept Ford Granada anywhere in the world, buy it. Serious bidders only please. Questions, inspections, queries are fine before auction ends. After auction ends, deposit $500 via PayPal, with balance due in 24 hours. Car will be kept in garage till pick-up by buyer, which should happen in a week after auction ends. Opening price of auction is reserve price which is set low enough so this car will definitely sell. Old American metal seems to be getting more attractive all the time; this is your chance to get a real beauty whose price has not gone up through the stratosphere (as yet). Winning bidder will get receipts (in paper and PDF format) of all repair work done on this car, including photos from when I bought it from first owner, and all original papers including dealer invoice will come with car. I have some spare Granada parts, odds, and ends, all of which I will put in the trunk for the new owner. Due to space problems, I am also selling a Mercedes 300D on eBay, check out that auction for another very nicely kept beauty with plenty of years and miles ahead of it.On May-10-11 at 05:40:48 PDT, seller added the following information: I am also selling a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300D on ebay at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330562288494&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT you can also see pictures of it at www.gasbomber.com under the Benz directory. On May-11-11 at 07:25:35 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to the limitations of the amount of images that can be shown at a given time.
