Up for auction is my 2002 Toyota Prius gas-electric hybrid, in great condition, 117604 miles, silver with gray interior. I can't tell you how much I do not want to let go of this car (especially with gas prices on the rise!), but I'm opening my own mobile locksmithing company and had to buy a cargo van instead. If I could afford to keep both, I would, the Prius is just that amazing. It has an automatic transmission, power steering, power windows, power locks (with remote), power front disc brakes, a regenerative anti-lock brake system, driver/passenger air bags, a security system with engine immobilizer, daytime running lights, tilt steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, in-dash touchscreen LCD display for vehicle information and audio control, AM/FM radio, cassette player, 6-disc CD player, and a cargo net in the trunk for safer storage of groceries/etc. The Prius spent 8 of the last 9 years in dry, warm Texas, owned from new by my parents. It was sold to me last summer, then I moved it to New York with me in November. I bought new tires and a new trunk battery right before moving, and had the oil changed and tires rotated a month ago. It passed inspection shortly after arriving in New York, you can see the sticker in the pictures. My family and I have taken excellent care of it, we're all obsessive-compulsive about our belongings, and you will receive every piece of maintenance documentation on it since it was bought, as well as the original manuals. It averages about 38-40 mpg, I haven't reset the trip meter in 700 miles so you can see for yourself in the picture. On long highway trips it moves up to 40-43 mpg. It usually cost me about $35 to fill up, and a full tank lasted about two weeks driving me back and forth to work five days a week plus errands and so forth. If you're looking to save on gas prices, this is the car for you! The last couple months I've only used it for grocery store trips and the like, as I started riding the bus to work in downtown Syracuse to avoid city parking. The interior and exterior are both very clean, very faint scratching on some of the doors from normal life happening. The floor mat in the trunk has two stains on it, one in the upper left corner, one in the lower right (you can see it in the pic through the cargo net). Other than that, we've kept it in pristine condition, smoke-, odor- and pet-free. It's never been in an accident, never dinged or dented, and was always serviced in Texas by the original dealership. There are only two flaws I'm aware of: the rear driver's side window regulator, and the rear cup holder. During this winter, the window iced over, and when I tried to lower it, something in there went clunk. It still tries to move, and the window stays up. I took a picture looking down into the window, you can see whatever it is that's still holding it up. The rear cup holder broke off recently, but I expect it could be superglued right back in. I'm going to try to have both repaired during the week the auction is running, and will update the auction before it ends if they're fixed. Paypal is preferred, though I will also take cash or check. (NOTE: Due to the danger of online scams, I'm requiring the winning bidder to wait while payment clears before releasing the car. By Paypal, this means an extra 3-4 business days for direct deposit to my bank. By check means 1-7 business days extra. Cash means I leaf through your bills checking for counterfeits, possibly with a fancy detection marker. :) Please plan for this when bidding, and thank you for your understanding and patience.) A $500 deposit is due within 72 hours of auction end, full payment received by the end of 7 days. I will also require a signed and dated xerox of your driver's license as part of my proof of sale. Buyers with zero feedback or heavy negative feedback will be refused the sale for my safety. I'm selling the Prius as-is, no warranty, no repairs paid for by me after you accept it. Please be aware that I have to remove the plates and surrender them to the DMV under NYS law. I'm also willing to sell to an out-of-state buyer, provided you pick up the vehicle in person after your payment clears. If you try to pick up before payment clears, I will not release the vehicle to you or reimburse you the cost of rescheduling, sorry. (And last...I reserve the right to end this auction early if some locksmith wanting to get out of the business has a good van full of key machines, blanks and tools that would make a fair trade for the Prius. :) Overall it's just a fantastic vehicle, better for the environment, better for your wallet! On May-08-11 at 12:45:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 5/8/11: I've been asked how the car can be transported, since I'm required by NYS law to remove my plates and stickers. According to the NY DMV website, there's an In-Transit Permit the buyer will need to apply for, a paper tag hung in the rear window that allows 30 days to transport it in or out of state. It costs $12.50 in-state, $12.00 out of state. I've printed out a blank form for the winning bidder, and will call the DMV tomorrow to make sure this is correct.
