Vehicle Detail
This an A-Code (225 HP Factory 4-Barrel Carb) Mustang Convertible. It features a power top, 3.00 rear end, and a four speed top-loader transmission (original was 3-speed). The car is in excellent mechanical condition with a solid body, you’ll see in the list below that I have replaced about every mechanical component within the last twelve months with new parts, including the brake system, engine cooling, complete suspension and steering. The car drives extremely well, with the new suspension and rebuilt steering box the steering is tight and exhibits none of the wander typical of worn components. The car starts on the first try, and I’ve driven it from San Diego to Laguna Beach with no issues. The engine runs and idles well with lost of power and that great dual-exhaust sound! Basically it’s a very solid car. I’ve owned many Mustangs over the years and do all my own work. From a rust perspective, I replaced the complete driver’s side inner rocker panel, the driver’s side torque box, front floor pan, and front frame extension. These are typical rust areas on convertibles. The same components on the passenger side appear to have been done by one of the previous owners. The car appears solid except for one spot on the driver’s side rear quarter as shown in the photos. That said, this is a 45 year old car and I’m not claiming that it’s rust-free, just a very solid driver. Overall, the car’s a lot of fun to drive and turns heads wherever it goes. It’s very stable at highway speeds, we tend to drive on the fast side here in California and this car has no problems keeping the pace. The new dual exhaust with resonators sounds terrific, it’s really a great driver or a good candidate for a restoration if you choose. I can furnish photos of specific areas on the car if you need more detail, or email me for my phone number and I'll be happy to answer any questions. Here’s a list of what I’ve replaced over the last year, most within the last six months. This represents several thousand dollars worth of parts that you won’t need to replace. Except for the starter, master cylinder and steering box these are all NEW parts, not rebuilt.
