Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1970 K5 Chevrolet Blazer. I purchased the truck from the second owner in Orange California. The truck was orignally purchased in Ogden Utah as i have the original protecto plate and owners manual. I was able to purchase the truck because its previous owner was too old to drive it because it had drum brakes and was work to make stop. Now for the details. The truck is extrememly original and solid. All original sheet metal and no rot. Rocker panels are rust free! The truck is a factory light red on red interior color. The truck was repainted approx 5 years ago and is very presentable. It does have some chips and very small dings in a couple of places but it is a 4x4 after all. The paint shines very nicely. The second owner had a new GM 4 bolt 260 horse 350 CU IN engine installed about 15K miles ago. I took it a step further and added an RV cam/AFR 180cc/65cc aluminum heads/Comp cams roller rockers/Headman Elite 14 gauge ceramic coated headers/Edelbrock performer intake/ and a new sean murphy induction rochester 4 barrel quadrajet carb. I also upgraded the entire cooling system with an edelbrock high flow water pump/fan/fan clutch and a new era correct Alumitech reproduction aluminum radiator. The truck has a nice 60's muscle tone per its new magnaflow 2.5" dual new exhaust, while retaining 100% easy street driving habits per a nice smooth idle. The power increase was astonishing with the add of the heads and all the above mentioned parts. The truck warms up in under 5 minutes and sets an 1/8 inch past the cold mark whether it's 20 degrees or 115 degrees outside.... The truck was a factory 4 speed and I got tired of shifting taking the kids out to ice cream. I then dropped the truck off at bowtie overdrives shop in Hesperia California for a brand new 450 HP 700R4 overdrive auto transmission. I have never looked back. The automatic shifts firm and makes the truck a pleasure to drive now. At that time I searched out a factory original K5 tilt column shifter and it is restored to show quality. I also had the 205 transfer case completely gone through before the transmission was installed. The auto trans wanted more gear so I dropped the truck off at Brothers 4x4 and had 4.10 gears installed front and rear. The truck cruises 80mph at 3000 rpm with the new 31.5" tires. I also decided to replace the original eaton/GM posi with a new Eaton unit since the shop would not warranty the new gears with the old posi unit. All of you that know 1st gen K5's realize that 1970's did not come with power disc brakes standard. This was a job! Since i'm nutty about keeping as many factory oem parts on my vehicles I purchased a 1971 front end and canabalized the front steering knuckles. I then purchased all new GM/OEM steel from Ventures truck parts. I went with 1976 large bearing spindles for strength. The rotors are also factory new oem GM steel. The dash is a factory GM with tach that has also been restored and looks amazing. I know I will leave something out so feel free to call me (Josh) at 714 614 3396 with any questions. I forgot to mention that the upgrade to disc brakes forced me to go with new rims. I chose mickey thompson classic II 15x10's. I put new General AT Grabbers on it and the tires perform great on the freeway with no noise and amazing off road as well. Everything works on the truck. The wiring is also untouched and not all spliced ike on many I have seen. If I were to keep it the only thing I would do is have the seats reupholstered as the rear is original with splits on the sides near the side windows due to the sun exposure and also add new carpet to finish it off. It also upgraded to rancho 5000 series shocks. It came with the factory wide seat option also. Bottom line is that this was an extremely original and nice solid western K5 with 125K miles where I went through the entire drive train to make drive better than new. This truck gets 15mpg with the 350 horse engine now and I would not hesitate to drive it from coast to coast. Please call with any questions. Buyer is resposible for shipping although I will cooperate to drop the vehicle off within 25 miles to a carrier if needed. I accept payment by wire/bank transer/certified bank check only. A $1000 deposit is due at the close of auction and total payment will be due within 7 days of aucitons close. Again, please call with any questions.
