Vehicle Detail
True GTO (not a clone); 400 big block engine; automatic transmission; his & her shifter; vinyl hardtop; good interior; good tires; new battery. I bought this 1968 GTO in 1995 as a project car for me and my Dad. During 1995, we completed the restoration, including body work, paint, new carpet, new vinyl top, etc. Car was driven regularly during 1996. After that time, my life and interests changed and the car sat outside for 6 years, then in a garage for 9 years. I’m ready to sell this car to someone who will give it the care and attention it deserves. As a result of sitting for 15 years, rust has appeared in several small places throughout the body and engine, so it needs body work, engine work, and new paint. The car fires up and runs, but will need to be gone through before it is ready to hit the road. Along with the car, I’m including over $600 worth of extras – new floor mats in box, new fender cover, new trunk kit, new hat, new t-shirt, new tiger tail mirror hanger, 4 “GTO 6.5 litre” emblems, 2 “400” emblems, 3500 rpm stall converter, spare tire, and bucket of other old parts including side mirror, hidden headlight, taillights, and front valance. Front valance currently on car is for a 1969; I’ll include an original 1968 valance (needs work). A $500.00 non-refundable deposit is due 48 hours after the end of the auction. Balance due at pick up in CASH. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. The car is located in Indiana (46254).On May-07-11 at 06:43:51 PDT, seller added the following information: ***UPDATES*** Here are a few details I learned while answering some questions for interested buyers: * The original color was "Springmist Green". * I do not have the PHS documentation on the car. * Engine numbers are 479486 and letters WT. * Car was originally a manual transmission and was converted to an automatic by previous owner. * The trim tag codes are as follows: TIME BUILT CODE: 02 MODEL YEAR: 68 DIVISION SERIES: 242 BODY TYPE: 37 TRIM NUMBER: 223 ASSEMBLY PLANT: PON UNIT NUMBER: 12039 BODY COLOR: P-2
