Vehicle Detail
This is a 1985 Chevrolet El Camino (fifth generation series from 1978–1987). Of the four models produced that year this one is the basic "El Camino". This truck, once known as a Cowboy Cadillac was purchased new by my father and passed on to me in 1995. I've driven it as a daily up till June of 2010. It currently is parked on our ranch resting on a non-operational certificate. Engine: The 305 C.I. small block V8 as is all the other parts and components "original". There is a slight amount of blue smoke when it's started after sitting and ends right after. The automatic choke doesn't work (carburetor OK) although it starts even in cold (local) weather. Brakes, are good, exhaust pipe sound. Shifts OK and turns quietly. All services have been maintained on coolant, engine and transmission. It has passed smog in all the required years to date. Overall body is in good condition with no major dents, rust or scratches. The tailgate was replaced with another 1985 gate and painted match the body. There are numerous "pits" from normal use. Interior is worn and could use a good cleaning. Headliner "cloth" portion was removed just recently when the glue failed. The hardboard headliner is still in place and solid. The fabric is also coming off of the driver's side sun visor. Dash top has several small perpendicular cracks in it from sun exposure. Bench seat with fold down center arm rest is fair with wearing on the driver's side. Electrical is OK but the turn signal doesn't work on the left rear side. Bulb was replace twice with no luck. Tires are poor to fair (minimal thread showing) and will need to be replaced soon.
