Selling for NO RESERVE. Final bid wins this car... Original 1979 GD300 Mercedes G wagon German model built for the German Border Patrol. Only a handful of these G wagens exist in the USA. VIN 46023317002237 This is car is specially equipped with original gun turret hatch, gun boxes, grab handles, rear cargo jump seats and other details never seen on these models in the USA. It is a 1979 model with a 1982 engine conversion (done while in Germany) to the classic 5 cylinder 300 series diesel power plant. It 4 speed manual transmission and it shifts very smooth with surprising power on the highway and comfortable at 65-70. It is a mercedes diesel without the headaches of all the modern car computer systems - just put nearly 3K into it to get it absolutely ready for daily driving! Seats 5 plus 2 in side facing rear jump seats - super cool set up. Interior is nearly new. Seats have been reupholstered. Also Dynamat sound insulation was installed underneath so it is comfy and quiet (for a 30 year old diesel 4x4). Recent newer paint job in original color military green. Steel black stock wheels with Pirelli Scorpion tires at 80% of tread. New HVAC system from Germany installed, plus new transfer case bushings and a few other details attended to... Even has a veggie oil system installed - not a secondary tank, but a heating system for the fuel lines that can be engaged to run pure veggie. Currently runs on diesel fuel. Gets thumbs up everywhere it goes - and gets low 20's average MPG!!! I have replaced most of the rubber moldings for the body - side window exterior rubbers, some of the body line rubber trim and new light guards for front and rear. Car starts right up easily. Motor runs and drives great. Lights, signals and brake lights work. All gauges work except the odometer and fuel gauge. Radio works. Small drip from radiator after driving. Drivers rear door opens from inside handle only. Body is solid with no rust. Undercarriage is pretty nice considering age of vehicle. It does have some rust on on passenger floor pan and rocker. Not too bad and replacement sheet metal parts are available to repair it. If I keep the car I may replace it. Drivers side rocker under door has rust that was repaired but some is still showing. The frame and other parts are clean and original. I will include an almost new stock bumper with sale. Clean California title and no smog required.
