1952 Bentley R Type #B7RS Reposession in Memphis,Tn Unusualimports is proud to offer this rare 1952 Bentley R-type to the Ebaymotors community exclusively. This will be our 576th vehicle sold here on ebay since 1998! What began as an experiment has now become a full time career. I am a buyer and seller of unusual automobiles and I own over 30 vintage European automobiles at present. I purchased this 1952 R type at a bank auction with the full intention of restoring it and never offering it for sale. Post war Bentleys are becoming increasingly hard to find, and prices are steadily rising on these models. In 1952 , this vehicle cost well over the price of eight chevrolets. This hand built saloon was a very low production vehicle, as only 2,325 were ever produced and as evidenced by the marketplace here on Ebay, when fully restored this vehicle is worth between $47,500 to $105,000 as of recent sale prices for 1952- 1955 examples. As I mentioned earlier, this Bentley was a bank reposession. I don't have a history on it, other than to tell you that it was licensed and registered in Oklahoma. It runs and drives and doesn't stop so well. We purchased this car at a bank sale, we have no idea if the prior owner died, divorced? Went bankrupt? We have no idea... All we know is that we have a Bentley R-Type automatic that needs a new home. This automobile appears to have recieved an amature restoration a few years back. Having as many cars as I do, I am rather immune to most cars and I really don't get too attached to cars anymore. This car is an exception. I regard the R types as some of the most elegant and stately vehicles ever to be produced. Why bother with a mundane Rolls Royce when you can have a Bentley? Rest assured that the world will never see another car like the R Type. This car represents an opportunity for someone who wants to get into a post war Bently for less than $30k. The car does need to be restored, but it is a wonderful foundation for a body of work. The car is VERY solid. All of the doors close with the same assuring thud that was originally intended. The floors are solid and not rusty. All of the jack points are great and the car appears to be largely complete. All of the glass is good and the sliding roof works as it should. Interior is complete, the upholstery is leather. It could perhaps be cleaned up , it is still soft and pliable. The headliner appears to be suede. Air conditioning has been added at some point. Sliding roof is a nice plus and is operable. The car is a running and driving car. It should be mentioned that it does not stop very well, I have not investigated further , other than to be careful to plan my stops well in advance. As I mentioned previously, the car does run and drive. The mechanicals appear intact and the engine sounds pretty good from my cusory inspection. As you can see, I cleaned a spot on the firewall. The vin is B7RS. As you can see, there is a bit of damage to the front right bumper. The fender appears pretty intact. The bumper could be repaired by a bumper shop.
