Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 2003 BMW K1200GT which was mainly used by my wife. She desires something different so we are selling it. You already know how incredible these bikes are if you are even looking at this ad. This machine is incredibly smooth, powerful, FAST, and easy to ride and control. It has heated hand grips, a heated seat, electronic cruise control, ABS controlled braking system, electronically adjustable windshield, BMW Telelever front suspension and Paralever rear suspension, shaft drive. It comes with the matching saddlebags and a soft, removable case for the rear rack. I made the passenger back rest and is not a genuine BMW accessory but we think it looks amazingly close. The tires will get you where you need to go but they will need to be replaced this year. The battery is a couple years old but consistent maintenance with a battery tender has kept it worry free. All fluids including engine, transmission, rear final drive, radiator, are fresh and synthetic in nature. The milage is accurate as per this listing but it will change due to my wife still riding it. We purchased the bike with some minor damage from it being laid down on the left side. We purchased BMW OEM replacement parts for what was broken and had the replaced parts painted to match. The rubber "lips" on the left side had to be replaced, the left saddle bag front mount had to be repaired (see photo), the left hand side and upper flair the side of the bag needing to be repaired and painted. There are some small scratches and a small dent on the muffler (see photo) nothing else mechanical was affected by the drop and we were able to ride it immediately when we purchased it. The previous owner just didn't have the knowledge, skill or desire to repair it. So we jumped on a deal and had a winter project to do. This is a great bike and we would take it cross country again tomorrow if the opportunity arose. Before moving to Tennessee last fall from Wisconsin, she rode it with one of our kids to Wyoming, N. & S. Carolina, numerous trips to Michigan, and all around Wisconsin. During move to Tennessee, a strap moved and rubbed on the top edge of the right side upper flair. I did my best to capture it in a photo. I'm not sure what else I can say. Please bid with confidence and contact me with questions or if there is something that I forgot. As mentioned, my wife still likes this bike a lot and will continue to ride it if the reserve isn't met. This bike is not a show bike. She bought it to ride it. (Why else would you buy a BMW.) That being said, it is a incredibly beautiful machine and she is constantly grinning from riding it and the looks & comments she gets from other riders over at Deals Gap when they discover that this was ridden there by a lady. "Lotta bike for a lady!" is her favorite comment. We reserve the right to end this listing early for we are listing it locally as well. Deposit required by the winning bidder upon 48 hours of auction close to PayPal. Balance within 10 days unless other arrangements are made. I can help with transportation within reason and expense reimbursement. This bike was just listed less than a week ago, but I had to remove the listing early because my wife mentioned to me that the brake warning light had come on the bike. I wasn't sure what the problem was, but we thought it best to remove the listing until the problem was determined just in case we had to take it in to the dealer for repair. Turns out that the brake fluid reservoir for the rear brake was near the lower mark. I added fluid and problem was solved. Thanks! p.s. I found a cool web page by William K. Brummett which lists all of the 2003 KGT's spec's in detail: http://brummetts.org/cycles/k12gt_specs.html
