Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This auction is for a nice example of a1968 California TR 250. The rarest of the TR range these cars are appreciating in price very quickly. It was owned for over 40 years by the same person and is reluctantly offered for sale by his widow. The engine runs so sweetly, smooth and extremely quiet and powerful, no unwanted tappet or piston noise at all. Oil pressure is good and it does not overheat. This car behaves very well on the road, without too much noise or fuss. The steering and suspension are good, the tyres despite having good tread are flat spotted and need to be replaced. The car tracks straight and the brake pedal feels good but the hand brake does not hold and it will need its rear brakes overhauling. The clutch is smooth and light and the gearbox shifts well although 2nd gear synchro is weak. The rest of the drivetrain is nice and quiet. It is the type of car that you just want to keep on driving. A couple of useful additions are the modified oil filter adapter to simplify oil changes and the oil cooler mounted below the radiator. The engine number is CC2222E and is beloved to be original. There are only slight oil leaks visible. All the gauges seem to work but indicators, wipers, horn and lights do not. These electrical issues look like simple switch problems as the wiring looks generally sound and unmodified. The hazard switch is missing. There has been an alarm fitted that would probably best be removed. The car is very typical of a California TR the only rust is in the bottom of the front fenders where the dirt gets trapped behind and there is a small area at the rear of the passenger floor where the carpet has been damp - See pictures. Other than that this car is rust and accident free, the inner panels are straight front and rear. The paint (a fairly cheap re-spray) is generally in decent shape but is cracking and chipped in places. The panels are very straight except for a small dent about the size of a dime in the rear fender where something fell on it in the garage. The doors are typical TR and close with a firm hand. The interior is in good shape the seats & carpet look like they were re-upholsterd some time ago. A new convertible top is needed but the frame is ok. The chrome is complete and in very good shape. There is a spare chrome wire wheel in the trunk without a tire. This car generally looks sharp and it turns heads wherever it goes. This is a rare opportunity to buy a decent example of the rarest of the TR's. As it is it is with a minimal amount of work you would have a good driver quality car or it would be an easy candidate for a stunning restoration. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. As always I would recommend driving and viewing the car if at all possible. Please call (310) 833 1525 for an appointment. Bid to buy with confidence, I have sold a lot of British cars on e-bay with only good feedback. Although all help will be extended in loading and furnishing any paperwork needed for the car we do not handle any shipping information, quotes or recommendations
