Vehicle Detail
Hello, Up for Auction starting at .99 cents with no reserve is my 1990 Toyota Corolla. I have had this car since 40,000 miles and it has NEVER let me down. It is my daily driver and I have never had an excuse to miss work its so reliable - sometimes i believe the car body will rust to the ground and it will still start and get you to work! I just bought a 2011 Suzuki hatchback and now use that as my daily driver. This Corolla is somewhat sentimental to me & I hate to see it go. I was going to attempt to keep it as a commuter to work but between the full coverage insurance needed on my new car and the monthly car payments - well i just cant afford the insurance on the two cars at the same time. So hopefully someone can use a great 'lil commuter or first car. Mechanically it is well maintained and ready to drive. I use Castrol high mileage conventional oil at regular intervals. The timing belt and water pump have been changed so you don't have to worry about that until you hit around 235,000 miles or so. All the other belts have under 10,000 miles on them. Except for the manifold/header piece that bolts directly to the engine the rest of the exhaust is recently replaced and in good shape - this includes the flex pipe, catalytic converter, straight pipe and muffler. The suspension springs are original but I replaced the rear struts about 5 years ago when it felt like the tail was hopping around corners when i made turns. They are still holding up good i feel. The front ones need to be replaced and i do have brand new KYB struts to give to the winner of the auction as i never got a chance to install them. (front wheel drive - when the rear struts go you stop at nothing to install new ones asap - when the fronts go 'tomorrows another day' lol). Corolla also has 15" steel wheels and all season Kumho tires all around with very good tread left. The stock speakers have been replaced because the original paper/cardboard material in them literally just deteriorated over time to dust/powder & i had no sound. The stock radio is also replaced with an aftermarket one. The original cigarette lighter power outlet died so a new aftermarket one was added in the dash to power/charge your stuff. AC & heat work very well. Now there are a lot of quirks being that it is an old car thats been thru a lot. Forgive me if i dont remember everything but i can list the most annoying ones right away haha. The windshield has been replaced due to a rock cracking it. No matter what i did i could never get a good seal again! The top driver side corner drips water on your lap when it rains bad or for long periods of time. I just got accustomed to leaving a small plastic tarp the size of the lower seat cushion on the seat. So, when it rained for days & i got in the car i could remove the plastic and sit on a dry seat, then put the tarp over my left leg so water would not drip on my pants during my commute to work. One time on college campus i locked myself out of the corolla. The college police came to help but all they did was mess up the inside mechanics of my doors with their Slim Jim. So the windows were always hard to roll up and down. Recently i have had a hard time rolling the driver window down at all. The door interior needs to be removed and the inside guts need to be sorted out i believe. RUST - its bad. there is rust on the fenders. One big rust hole in one of the doors. The front fenders are magically disappearing. One day the gas attendant went to fill my gas tank and just ripped off the gas door due to rust at the hinges. I added an aftermarket gas cap with lock/key. About a month ago my girlfriend was driving and she just tapped someone that was about to make a right on red but then had second thoughts and slammed on the brakes for some reason... due to the rust the front end got a lil jumbled up -easier than if it were more solid & rust free i believe. I dont believe the car burns any oil and i still get good gas mileage between 25-30mpg. Corolla doesn't leave oil puddles or anything, but if you look at the oil pan and valve cover they are caked with oil a little bit. I believe due to the original gaskets it leaks thru there a little bit but not enough that you would have to top off in-between oil changes more than a quart - if that at all. I believe the same is true with the tranny - just gotta watch the fluids people - i believe this is with any old car. So, despite her old age and all the quirks & everything that is wrong with her i believe she will get you to where you need to go. Just keep up on the regular maintenance & keep an eye on all the fluid levels and you should be fine. I am in New Brunswick, NJ 08901 where you can pick up the car and drive it home or i can drive it to you at a meeting spot (within a reasonable distance). I tried to list all info i could think of but message me any & all questions. Thanks for looking & Happy Bidding!!
