Vehicle Detail
This 2000 Eclipse will start but will not keep running. It starts and runs nicely for about 10 to 15 seconds then begins to mis-fire and stall. After it sits awhile it will start again but will not keep running. My mechanic diagnosed the problem to a bad Crankshaft Position Sensor. Replacing the sensor did not correct the problem. It was re-diagnosed to a bad computer. The computer was sent to Automotive Electronic Solutions (AES) in Jacksonville, FL. AES replaced some leaking capacitors and bench checked the computer. They sent it back stating that it was operating within manufacturer's specifications. However, returning the computer to the car did not fix the problem. This Eclipse could be a nice vehicle for someone who has more auto-electronics expertise than me. I'm betting that there is an inexpensive electronic component somewhere that is heating up when the car starts and once it gets hot the car will not keep running. So, the car will have to be towed or transported by the buyer. The transmission and clutch work beautifully and the brakes, rotors, drums and tires are in good condition. Actually, the left front tire has a very slow leak. I have an extra set of custom rims/tires that go with the car. The body on this car is in good condition rust wise. There are a few dents and dings and allot of stone chips on the hood and front end parts. The original cloth interior has been replaced with a leather interior from another Eclipse. The dashboard has multiple sun cracks in it. Please contact me if you have further questions. I'm not trying to make a profit on this sale I would just like to move this car to someone who can get it going again because it has been a great car over its life until the electronic issue happened. This is not a flood vehicle nor has it been in any accidents since I took ownership in June of 2004. The car has been on the road until the end of last summer and has a current Virginia inspection sticker. That sticker expires the end of June 2011. On Apr-10-11 at 13:31:48 PDT, seller added the following information:Sorry folks, I forgot to add that the hood latch cable is broken on this Eclipse. Easily found junk yard part or you can get from a dealer. Not expensive or all that difficult to replace.
