Vehicle Detail

82 Mercedes 300SD Turbo diesel Multi Fuel Fast CarI am selling a 1982 300SD Turbo Diesel for a friend It can run on regular Diesel, Bio-diesel, SVO – (straight vegetable oil) or WVO – (waste vegetable oil) or any blend of the above. Right now is running with 20B (20% bio-diesel and 80% regular diesel fuel)With a properly converted Mercedes Benz the fuel price increases won’t be affecting you for the next 20 years or more (expected life of this car, if properly maintained) because you can Drive it for practically FREE, if you decide to make your own Bio Diesel or use WVO, and you don’t have to worry about fuel shortages, with this car you are NOT depending on the oil companies at all, a BIG plus over the Hybrid carsBe careful with some conversions that only ruin your engine in less than 20,000 miles! And this is a proven fact.Converted professionally on a Mercedes Only Shop, (records included), you can fill up your single tank with 100%: SVO or Bio-Diesel or Diesel Fuel, or any combination of this fuels, with no risk to ruin your engine The 12 v controlled electric oil heating system activates during the glow plug warm up, and keeps the fuel at a constant temperature. It uses the car's existing tank (single tank system)This allows you to not only drive off vegetable oil, but also start-up your car like normal Diesel fuel without the use of any switches, or confusing procedures. versus the messy, complicated ,extra weight, bulky 2 tank systems that if you forget to switch from SVO or WVO to Diesel and wait to purge your fuel lines with diesel from the other tank before shutting the engine off…….. You may not be able to start the car next morning until all the fuel lines have been flushed. You can start it off on straight vegetable oil, even in cold temperatures of 25°F -30°F with no need to use any “blends” or anti gelling additives. You can also run it off regular diesel, bio diesel, vegetable oil, or any combination of the 3 on the same fuel tank. A similar conversion is done for around $2,000.00 - $2,500.00 (this includes the kit and installation) depending on the car model and engine type (please check the http://www.elsbett.com web site), this European company has been converting diesel engines to run on one tank system for more than 20 years they also manufacture engines to run exclusively on SVO.To sum up everything below, the car looks really nice and is mostly original. It runs very well, would make an excellent daily driver, remember with the rising price of fuel this car will very soon pay for himself on a couple of years or less. These cars typically get over 30 MPG…….but on homemade bio diesel or used veggie oil who cares, it runs for almost free, yes for almost FREE a very nice feature, NOT found on any HIGH PRICED and expensive to maintain of the so called “Hybrid” cars.Just one example to replace the car's transaxle, (Toyota Prius) part of the vehicle's new-wave continuously variable transmission, just after the warranty period expires."You will have to pay $3,000 just for the labor, and $5,000 for the part. That's 40% of the original base price of the car!" I am not making it you can check it with the dealer! Please see excerpt bellow taken from: Centerville-Bellbrook Times:Centerville-Bellbrook TimesCouncilman invests in veggie oil vehicleBy Jodi BrockTimes EditorBellbrook City councilman Denny Bennett believes his more than $20,000 investment in a 1986, diesel-powered Mercedes Benz will payoff in the long run.The reason? Not only is the 20-year-old car fueled by diesel, it's fueled by vegetable oil. That's right. The stuff restaurants use to fry French fries.Bennett can run his Benz on diesel or vegetable oil. While the diesel gasoline may cost Bennett a few bucks, the vegetable oil doesn't cost him a dime - thanks to local restaurants who Bennett says are more than willing to dispose of their used oil."This is how Denny Bennett is fighting the exorbitant costs of fuel, by using my brain, by using a diesel engine the way it was originally intended to be used," Bennett said.Bennett explained that the original design of the diesel engine called for using peanut oil to power the vehicle, not diesel fuel. The diesel engine, Bennett said, was designed to help most third world countries that didn't have petroleum products.Finding the diesel-powered, money-saving Mercedes proved to be tough going for Bennett. Dealers all around the state didn't have what Bennett believed would be his key to lower fuel costs. He finally found one seller in Richmond, In. Once Bennett found the '86 Mercedes, he said he "couldn't write the check fast enough."The car had roughly 326,000 miles on it. With the car back to being road ready with a fresh engine ready for another 300,000 miles, Bennett himself is ready to "gas" up his vegetable oil-powered car with his make-shift vegetable oil "station" located in his garage. After Bennett collects the oil from restaurants like Tuscany Grille and Taco Bell in Bellbrook and Madison's in Centerville, he pours the liquid from his two-and-a-half gallon jug into two orthopedic socks doubled together that act as strainers, funneling the oil into either the 13-gallon tank in the trunk of the car or into the drums of oil in his garage. Not only is Bennett saving money, he's doing his part helping restaurants recycle their used oil, and possibly helping the environment. Bennett said he could make his own bio-fuel but decided against it."I do not modify the oil in any way. Just burn it straight," said Bennett. "There are also no sulfur emissions coming out of my tail pipe."and Bennett believes it actually runs better on the vegetable oil.So if you see Bennett about town, beware of driving behind him, especially around dinnertime. You may get a sudden craving for French fries. All in all, Bennett is happy with his investment. Though initially costly, Bennett says it's all worth it. Recycling the oil means keeping more money in his wallet.I am not a mathematician or a genius, but if I buy a new car let’s assume my monthly payment will be around $300 - $500.00 for 36 - 60 months depending of the Total car price plus interest, (obviously not counting the “down” payment or the “trade in allowance” for my used car, and the insurance premiums) but if I buy a good condition used Diesel Mercedes I find very difficult to spend $300.00 to $500.00 per month for 36 or 60 months on repairs or maintenance, besides that the more I drive the car the more I save, comparing the diesel price at the pump. NOT taking into consideration if I want I can make my own bio diesel or use WVO and the car can be driven for practically free.If you are reading this auction description, chances are you are looking to buy a car or just comparing fuel mileage cost or fuel alternatives on the long run.You can buy a brand new car and get in debt for years or drive a classic with style and high standards of safety that only Mercedes Benz can offer, for practically nothing. The decision is up to you. This is not a like-new car! It is an old car! As nice of a car as this may be, it stills a used car. Please understand this before bidding and please expect to receive a used car. Not a new one. With every used car, you may find some faults consistent to their age and usage. If you are someone that wants to save a lot of money on a goo car and understand that to do so, You may have to put a small portion of those savings back on to the car to make it perfect as your own taste dictates, then your bid is more than welcome and appreciated! However, it runs great and the Mercedes turbo diesel engine will take you a long, long, long ways with fabulous gas mileage. You could drive it across the country right now; if there is anything in particular you’d like described or you’d like a photo of some particular part, let me know. Now, Back to this nice 82 Mercedes 300D turbo Diesel Multi FuelMECHANICAL The car drives very well and has no known mechanical issues.
