1979 Honda XL500S

This is a very nice 1979 Honda XL500S that I have had in storage for about 5 years and it's time to let it go. I have gone through and completely serviced everything on the bike. Everything electrical operates properly including Turn Signals, Pilot lights, Hi/Lo beams, Brake lights & Horn. The battery is new as well. The bike usually starts with 2 or 3 kicks (auto-compression release works perfectly), runs very strong, idles perfectly, shifts perfectly, no strange noises, smoke etc. The only issue the bike has is the speedometer. The original had failed and the previous owner replaced it so the true mileage is just under 7,700 while the speedometer only shows about 3,500. The speedometer is also missing the reset knob for the trip meter, but it does work properly. The rims and spokes are in good condition, especially the front rim. Upper fork tubes are in excellent condition. Gas tank is clean and rust free inside. The seat cover is original and in excellent condition, no damage. The muffler is a Super Trap brand on the OEM header, it is ding, dent and rust free! The OEM muffler is included and is in very good condition with the exception of a dime sized rust hole on the bottom of the arrestor like most of these XL's. The body kit has been professionally refinished in the OEM Tahitian Red using PPG products. The tank and side cover decals are custom made high quality reproductions. The frame paint is still in very nice condition with only minor scuffs and scratches here and there. This bike has been completely serviced and is road/trail ready. One like this recently sold on Ebay for $3,500 and my reserve is significantly lower than that. Please ask any questions you like prior to bidding except what the reserve price is, it is very fair! NEW PARTS: F & R Tires & Tubes (correct OEM size & tread pattern), Fork Seals, Battery, Spark Plug, Decals. SHIPPING: The bike is located in Ashland, Ohio, 44805 which is midway between Cleveland and Columbus. I can offer several shipping options for you to choose from: 1) I will crate the bike (totally enclosed) and load on your shippers truck from my commercial location. My crating fee is $150 and will include new ratcheting tie-downs that are yours to keep. The crate is professionally built using new materials. 2) I will deliver the bike to Forward Air in Cleveland and load it in one of their containers for a fee of only $75 that will include new ratcheting tie-downs and locks that will be yours to keep. You must make all the arrangements and pay Forward Air their fee before I deliver the bike. You MUST use their container. You may make your own arrangements and I will assist you anyway I can on this end. Please remember that the bike is at a commercial location and can be loaded with ease on to any type of vehicle you send.
