Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice 1971 Honda SL70 in Light Ruby Red. I have gone through everything on the bike and there are no issues, everything works as it should. All the lights operate properly including pilot light, Hi/Lo beams and brake lights. The battery is new as well. The bike starts with 1 or 2 kicks, runs very strong, idles perfectly, shifts perfectly, no strange noises, smoke etc. The transmission case had a oil leak so I dismantled the entire engine, inspected every internal part and found the engine in perfect, obviously low-hour condition. The rings and piston are still the OEM originals. Were it not for the oil leak, this engine would have never been disassembled. The only internal work done prior to reassermbly was to de-glaze the cylinder and lap the valves. The transmission cases and cylinder head were shot blasted as they were from the factory. The cylinder and clutch cover were painted silver. The rims and spokes are original and in spectacular condition, no rust. Upper fork tubes are in excellent condition. Gas tank is clean and rust free inside. The seat cover is original and in excellent condition, the spark plugwrench is still underneath the seat! The exhaust is ding, dent and rust free! There are some scuffs and scratches here and there that you would expect on a 40 year old machine but nothing terrible. The tank has some very small dings towards the front left and some chipping on the top, rear fender is scraped on the left side, front fender has a scuff on the front edge, left side cover has a small chip on the bottom and about a 1" crack leading up from that chip that has been repaired, also a small repair on the top edge. All these defects can be viewed in my photos and I'm happy to send you more if you like, just ask! Over-All I would rate the condition of the chrome as nearly excellent and the paint condition as fair+. When you find these bikes with the factory mirror plugs still in the lever perches and the rubber horn button plug still in the handle bars that's usually a good indication that the bike has had an easy, unmolested life. Virtually ever issue this bike had was the result of time, not abuse. The bike is sold with a bill of sale only. Please ask any questions you like prior to bidding except what the reserve price is, it is very fair! Thank you and good luck! NEW PARTS: ENGINE PARTS: All Gaskets & Seals, All Bolts, Nuts & Washers, Cam Cover, Flywheel Cover, Points Cover, Valve Covers, Points, Condenser, Spark Plug & Drive Sprocket. OTHER PARTS: F & R Tires (correct OEM size & tread pattern), Tubes, Rim Bands, Carburetor, Carb to Airbox Boot, Fuel Petcock, Fuel Line & Clamps, Fork Seals & Dust Boots, Kicker Rubber, Side Cover Grommets. Also, the lower fork tubes were rebrushed and clearcoated to OEM finish when the seals were replaced. SHIPPING: The bike is located in Ashland, Ohio, 44805 which is midway between Cleveland and Columbus. I can offer several shipping options for you to choose from: 1) I will crate the bike (totally enclosed) and load on your shippers truck from my commercial location. My crating fee is $150 and will include new ratcheting tie-downs that are yours to keep. The crate is professionally built using new materials. 2) I will deliver the bike to Forward Air in Cleveland and load it in one of their containers for a fee of only $50 that will include new ratcheting tie-downs and locks that will be yours to keep. You must make all the arrangements and pay Forward Air their fee before I deliver the bike. You MUST use their container. Please check with them for rates @ WWW.FORWARDAIR.COM 3) There are several transportation services that will pickup and deliver door to door without crating. One that I have used with success is Wolverine Transport. You may contact them @ www.WolverineCycle.com for a quote. 4) I can crate the bike and ship to most any commercial location in the continental U.S for a maximum of $400 You must be able to accept a semi-truck delivery or be willing to pick up from your nearest freight terminal. 5) My favorite! You may make your own arrangements and I will assist you anyway I can on this end. Please remember that the bike is at a commercial location and can be loaded with ease on to any type of vehicle you send. IMPORTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ ALL: Remember, your winning bid is a contract to buy, not to show up, kick the tires and then decide you've changed your mind. I apologize if this sounds harsh but we all know these types of bidders do exist so please don't bid unless you're serious about owning this vehicle. I am not a dealer, I don't do this for a living, I'm a collector with a large number of bikes and from time to time I thin out the herd. If you'd like any detailed photos of a specific area of the bike, just ask! I have over 50 shots of it but will be glad to take more if needed. Please ask any questions you like before bidding. You will be answered quickly and honestly. I will not sugarcoat anything for the sake of a few extra dollars. With all the bikes I own or have owned over the years, I know how disappointing it is when someone over-sells a bikes condition so you may be sure I won't do that to you. I have disclosed and will gladly provide photos of all known defects for your inspection. You are welcome and encouraged to personally inspect the bike and test drive it . Although this bike is sold “as is” and "without warranty", I want you to be happy and I will do anything within reason to me to see that you are. Thank you and good luck!
