Vehicle Detail
You're bidding on a 1968 Mustang Fastback with 4-speed manual. I bought it in 1976 and drove it until 1985. From that point on it has been garaged and driven just enough to keep everything lubed and operating while waiting for funds to restore it. The car is about 60% through a daily driver restoration. I've hired out virtually all the work done on it so far. I have a daughter in college (pre-med) and need to sell it to help with school costs. The paint (Acapulco blue) is in good condition (any chips touched up) and exterior chrome, ornaments, and trim have been replaced (except the door handles, qtr. panel (brake vent) chrome, windshield & back glass trim, driver side view mirror, and grill running horse). The car has a new 289 installed and it has less than 300 miles on it. The fuel pump is new, the engine compartment has been painted and detailed, and all hoses and belts are new. It has a louvered hood with turn signals, fog lights, and chrome styled steel (GT) wheels with beauty rims and "plain" center hubcaps. The interior is 2-tone blue, there's a floor console, roof console with map lights, and fold down rear seat. The carpet (with sound deadener), upholstery, headliner, and much of the interior trim--including the black camera finish dash trim, instrument cluster bezel, turn signal lever, and dimmer switch--has been replaced and all are new and in excellent shape. The dash pad has been refurbished to like new condition. All interior seams were resealed prior to installing the new carpet. The trunk has a new liner and filler board but there is no spare tire or jack. The tires are brand new, the brake master cylinder, front disc brake pads and calipers and the rear brake cylinders and shoes are new. Both front wheel well splash shield rubber seals have been replaced. The lower control arms, upper ball joints and outer tie rod ends have been replaced and the steering is tight. The battery is less than a year old. The carburetor was recently rebuilt and new plugs installed. It has single exhaust but I replaced the original rear valence with one made for dual exhaust (planned but not installed). Door hinges are in very good shape, the doors don't sag and close properly. Both door window regulator scissor assemblies are new but the windows need some additional adjustment (I don't think they roll up as smoothly as they should). The original radio no longer worked and was removed (with the expectation of installing a cd player). There is no stereo in the car at this time. The original style center dash speaker is new. The original steering wheel is cracked and in need of refurbishing or replacing. The clock is inoperative (wasn't working when I bought the car) but all other lights and gauges work. It has factory air but the compressor and hoses are not installed on the car (I have a York compressor, included with purchase). The car has a small scratch on the passenger door (see photo). There is no rust or bondo, the floor pans are solid. The chassis/underside of the car has not been restored. This car is solid and a lot of the work to restore it has been done. I'm selling the car as a daily driver and "as is". It has a clean and clear Tennessee title. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours after the close of the auction. Full payment is due within 7 days. I prefer a cashier's check (or cash). The car will not be released until the funds have cleared. The winning bidder is responsible for arranging shipping. I've tried to point out the flaws and note the additional work needed to complete the restoration. Please contact me by email if you have any questions or need additional detail. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
