Vehicle Detail
1987 190d 2.5 Turbo Great car, strong motor, no rust. But first things first, getting this car titled was a bit of a hassle, allow me to explain. I am the third owner of this car, I purchased it just over a month ago with the intention of cleaning it up and selling it. I took the car to the DMV to transfer the title and register it and all went well. I then went to the local MB dealer to pick up a few parts for the car and when they ran the VIN from my registration, they found no such VIN existed or ever did exist and they suggested I return to the DMV to get it straightened out. It turns out in 1989 when the title was transferred from the original owner to the second owner, one of the digits in the VIN was changed, at least that is what the DMV figured. After verifying all VIN information the car has been retitled with the correct VIN that matches the car and all's well that ends well. If you are trying to run a Carfax report you will have to do it with the bad title number which is: WDBDB28D6HF333656, as you can see when titled in 1989 someone changed the last six digits from 335656 to 333656. The lady at the DMV was fairly certain this was prior to widespread computer use and with no databases to cross check most of the information input was done by hand and just carried over. Now for a brief description of the car. Left rear window does not work. Sunroof not working. Radio not working. Temperature gauge on instrument cluster not working. Could use an alignment. Drivers seat-back comes off quite easily. Both rear doors only open from the inside. Hood has small indentation on the left front corner, it looks as though the hood was closed on something because it is raised up.(pictured) I can't be 100% certain on the mileage as the odometer seems to turn at times, and sometimes not. It's sort of on again off again. AC has been upgraded to R134 and it blows cold, unfortunately it also blows warm out of the defrost vent at the same time, so I guess it's a wash. Brand new VA safety inspection, strong brakes and plenty of tread on the all season tires. Strong motor and turbo, one of only two cars I've ever owned that could spin out going into second gear, (The other was a Porsche 944 Turbo, and that was a manual transmission.) No rust, (besides the lift-holes that run along the outer sides, not capped properly), otherwise straight and clean body. Unfortunately I do not have any service records for the vehicle, but there are tons of new parts all over this car, it's easy to see it has been maintained. That being said I will be happy to answer any questions and would also be happy to show anyone the car that wants to look at it or test drive it. This car isn't perfect, but is by no means a big time project, I've driven the car everyday since I bought it with no trouble at all. I will say the pictures make the car look a bit better than it does close-up, I only had my blackberry to take the pictures. Don't hesitate to email me with any questions, I'll answer them to the best of my ability. Priced to sell, don't hesitate!
