Vehicle Detail
Freshly 'restified' 1987 GSXR 750. This bike has many hours and thousands of dollars poured into it. I've picked the best parts from all years of oil/air cooled Suzukis to build the ultimate early GSXR. I wanted one of these bikes since I was in high school, and I could never find just the one I wanted so I built my own. It's set up as a fast street bike rather than a track machine, with an emphasis on monster torque and canyon-carving rather than outright speed. I have more than $3500 in engine reciepts alone. The paint job is the limited-edition 1987 'hyper endurancer' scheme which was sold only in Japan and a few other countries. The bike has less than 100 miles on it since the full rebuild, and the motor is barely broken in. Chassis: - 1987 gsxr 750 frame (stiffest of the 85-86-87 frames), factory finish and NO broken steering stops (good luck finding another one!) - 87 gsxr swingarm, same as above. - 88 gsxr 750 17-inch wheels, new tires - EBC race fully floating rotors, centers painted black and new buttons - Hayabusa front calipers (aluminum pistons) new EBC pads - 2010 R1 brembo master cylinder, matching R1 clutch perch - Custom stainless brake lines - 1991 upside-down forks, revalved by Lindeman Engineering, new .85 kg/mm springs, seals, Traxxion Dynamics preload adjusters - all new chassis bearings - GSXR 1100 rear suspension link (increases rear ride height) - Ohlins rear shock, freshly rebuilt, 450 lb/in rear spring - rebuilt rear brakes - 520 chain, new sprockets in 14/45 - custom reinforced rear motor mounts - 2000-up gsxr bar switches Engine: -1999 Bandit 1200 cases -APE lightened/balanced Bandit crank - Crower billet rods - JE 1216cc forged pistons set up with 0 deck - Back-cut Bandit transmission, gsxr 1100 coil spring clutch - ALL new bearings, seals and gaskets - Ported, polished (by Suzuki Ray) GSXR 1100 head with new (port matched) manifolds), milled .020 for 10.5:1 compression - 30mm intake valves, APE titanium retainers, Kibblewhite valvesprings - 1988 gsxr 750 cams, slotted sprockets - Manual cam chain tensioner - Cable clutch conversion - Keihin FCR 39mm carbs - Pingel petcock (with reserve) - Yoshimura full exhaust - full stainless steel bolt/screws Body: - Carbon front fender - All OEM bodywork EXCEPT the fiberglass upper fairing - New professional and very very well-done black paint - New 'hyper-endurancer' japan-market decals - Reupholstered seat - Rare factory solo seat cowl - Dzus fasteners in place of factory screws on mids; all new factory-style hardware wherever available. - Yellow headlight cover, smoked windshield Tons of parts come with the bike too, including the original 750 motor, and a 5.5-inch rear wheel and aluminum sprocket to run a 185 rear tire. Also I have a Yoshimura carb scoop that came too late to be painted. It needs a new chain, there's a fresh 520 chain that I will put on for the buyer. The bike has a salvage title, since I bought the frame from an ebay auction with no paperwork. It has been checked for straightness, and appears never to have been crashed. These frames are fragile and crash damage is not easy to hide. If you have a good frame with a clean title I will be happy to swap all the parts over, but these frames are getting very hard to find in this condition. Buyer welcome to come inspect in person. Local delivery available, as is crating/forward air at buyer's expense. On Mar-15-11 at 22:43:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention the oil cooler is a 1990 gsx-r750 curved cooler, which is the largest and most efficient of the oil cooled gsxr coolers. There is nothing half-assed about this bike, I am influenced by the Japanese bike mags and tried to give it a Japanese street flavor with a close attention to detail and trick parts. I used all the best faxtory parts and only went to aftermarket where needed. Why am I selling? I havent ridden a day since my son was born, I guess my priorities have changed. On Mar-16-11 at 09:37:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Couple more things: Mileage is in no way accurate. Thats just the miles showing on the best looking speedo I had. All the wear parts like steering bearings, all cables, hydraulics on the bike are new anyway. I have two or three other speedos that go with the bike. The tach is flakey too.I have a few more of those as well. The rear wheel is white because I planned to swap it for the 5.5-inch one at some point. The tires were new when I built the bike last year. Fairing bracket is chrome. Front fender is carbon from an SRAD because I like the way it looksbetter than the 91 fender.
