1997 Hyundai Elantra 4-Door, automatic trans, 1.8 4 cyl engine. This car belongs to an older Gentleman, who could not pass his last eye test at the DMV. I installed a new battery and filled the tank with gas and drove it over to my house about 40 miles away. The car started right up and drove fine. A few things that I noticed, that will need some attention are: It will need Exhaust work from the manifold to the muffler . The muffler & tailpipe are 2 yrs old and look good ( the exhaust is loud ! ! ) . There is a airbag light illuminated on the dash and the check engine light is also illuminated. The struts are the originals and maybe they should be addressed. There are some scrapes and scratches and a couple of dings on the ouside but nothing major. The interior is in fair to good condition, all the lights work and there is a jack and spare. One hubcap is broken (plastic) and a valve cover gasket might not be a bad idea. The car will get 28 to 30 mpg. It was purchased used in August of 2000 and had 31301 miles on the odometer at that time. The odometer now reads 99568 miles.
