Own a Classic Example of Fahrvergnugen 59HP, 1.6L ECOdiesel Engine 5 Speed Manual Transmission Medium Blue Clearcoat Metallic Factory Paint Blue Velour Interior Presently with 198,542 miles showing on the odometer. The actual mileage will be more by the end of the auction as this Jetta is my occasional driver. I am negotiation to by an electric vehicle. This Jetta is just too valuable to be just a grocery getter down here on the 2x4 mile island that I live on. Someone who drives regularly could make much better use of this very economical vehicle. I have achieved highway mileage over 50 m.p.g. regularly. I bought this vehicle last fall in Virginia where the previous owner had kept it garaged and maintained regularly. Being garaged all these years the paint and interior are both in excellent condition. He also kept a log of the mileage, fuel purchases and oil changes. This log/notepad will be included in the sale. Also included are the 1991 Jetta Owners Manual and window sticker price tag. The Good. The Body- rust free The Engine-has all 59 horses working well, no unusual or excessive exhaust smoke. Turbocharged with Catalyst. Mechanical Hand Crank windows-no electric motors to break (I've had a GLS with power window problems). The Bad. AC needs a recharge or possibly more. Cruise control is not working. Could be operator error. 1991 am/fm radio works but sounds like 1991 has cassette player and ABBA tape. Yeah, the ABBA tape came with the car. I haven't tried either yet, but the radio does work and could get you back across the country or wherever you may want to take her. Rear suspension may need replacing. Vibrations reverberate (possibly from the muffler?) at startup speeds when there is some weight in the back of the car. This is a well maintained 20 year old car with a lot of life left in it and that is why I am starting the bidding at twenty-five hundred. Being a 20 year old vehicle I am selling this car as is where is. Delivery of this vehicle is a possibility at my convenience and terms (reasonable mileage rate). The soot content in the exhaust gas has been drastically reduced and the exhaust gas smell is no longer present. This has been attained through a new engine concept. The Turbocharger has not been introduced to increase the output, which is normally the case, but to supply additional air into the cylinders. Since the amount of fuel being injected has not been increased, the engine operates with excess air. Even at full throttle/load operation, the fuel is burnt so completely that soot is no longer visible in the exhaust. At the same time, this complete combustion brings about improved use of energy and good engine output. In addition the Catalytic Converter installed in front of the muffler practically eliminates the unpleasant smelling hydrocarbons in the exhaust and converts the poisonous carbon monoxide into non-poisonous carbon dioxide.
