Vehicle Detail
Introduction: Relisting one more time. Please note that this is not a fully restored $35k car, but a very nice driver that does have some imperfections. The car runs very well and is an absolute blast to drive. It looks great and is very respectable, but it is NOT a trailer queen. Please don't expect to be getting a fully restored car for my asking price. Instead expect to get a very nice, reliable, driver and a car that would be the envy at most any show. Thank you for your time! Up for auction is a true piece of American history. This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport 396 is the epitome of classic American muscle. She was manufactured in the Van Nuys California plant and spent all of her life in the dry, arid, climate of Mission Texas. This car maintains much if not all of it's original iron and looks outstanding. Let's transport back to the time where gas was cheap, insurance premiums were small, and the horsepower was off the charts. Exterior: Absolutely drenching all of these classic Chevelle lines is a gorgeous coat of Cranberry red paint overlayed by a diamond tough clear coat that is a mile deep. The paint and body are in excellent condition with no major flaws. There are a couple of chips and nicks here and there from driving it but the worst is a scratch near the driver's headlight. (See Pic) All chips are very small and have been touched up with professionally matched paint. The body is extremely straight and is all original steel with the exception of a lower quarter repair panel behind the driver's side rear wheel. It was done very well and the only way to tell is by the seam on the inside of the trunk. The chrome and stainless are outstanding. The only pieces that I would say needs any attention would be the rear bumper, it is starting to haze and the chrome trim piece between the glass on the drivers side has a little rust some pitting. All of the glass, with the exception of the windshield is factory Soft Ray factory. All glass is in great condition without any cracks or chips. Only rust I have found on the car is a small area of surface rust under the trunk seal. It covers the area of a dime, if that. Only visible when you pull the rear seal out. Interior: Open either door and step into vivid muscle car accommodations. The interior is in excellent condition with a few minor flaws. New carpet has been installed after the pictures were taken, so car now has new carpet. Also there is a crack in the dash by the passenger side speaker mesh. The dash has been baked over the years in the south Texas sun and just didn't last. Other than those areas the interior is outstanding. All of the windows roll up and down with ease and seal very nicely. Mechanical: Bump the key and breath to life this Bowtie Big Block 396/350HP. The CTX coded 396 has tons of power and sounds unstoppable. The car doesn't smoke or leak anything. It is as dry as a bone. The Muncie M-21 close ratio 4 speed is accurate and solid, no missed gears here. Out back the 12 bolt posi rear end sends the power out to the factory 14" SS Wheels wrapped in brand new radial rubber. The undercarriage is completely original and is very solid. It is not the cleanest or prettiest you have ever seen but it is original and very sound. This car is originally an A/C car, but at some point the hoses, compressor, and condenser vanished. The A/C firewall box, underdash unit, and dash controls are all still in tact and appear to be functional.
